here is the official release from Spectre 341 Challenge:

"After two days of fun and excitement, the 341 Challenge suffered a
tragedy when VRAlexander was killed in an accident when he went off
course. Out of respect for his grieving family please refrain from
participating in hearsay and speculation. This is a very sad turn of
events, but he was pursuing his dream. Please send your thoughts and
prayers to his family during this trying time."

      R.I.P. VR Alexander

There are no words that can express the feelings I have towards the tragedy that insued last saturday afternoon at the Spectre 341 Challenge. VR Alexander was an icon in this industry and will be missed by many.

All possible safety measures were in place and ready for any sort of incident from the Spectre Performance corner workers to the local fire, paramedic's and sheriff's department.

I would like to thank Jimi Day, Amir Rosenbaum, and countless others on the Spectre Performance Team for pulling off such a pinacle event.

This course was definitely not for the timid and surprises lurked everywhere. From the decreasing radius and blinding turns to the off camber portions of the roadway, This course demanded your full attention and focus at all times.

Of the four pro-touring cars that ran, Amir Rosenbaum pulled off the fastest time in his El camino at 3:51.825. I came in second with a time of 3:59.096, and Jeff Smith in his '65 Chevelle came in at 3:59.320.

The fourth car was Cam Douglas's old Camaro now owned by Amir and unfortunately it seemed to be having issues running at that elevation.

Once again, my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of VR Alexander, may God bless you all during these trying times.
