      Can you run a 305 on a 10" wheel?

Can you run a 305/30 or 35 series tire on a 19x10 wheel? I have a 69 camaro with DSE minitubs and want as big a foot print as possible without having to go to a 3 piece more expensive wheel. What is the widest tire I can run?Wheels will be Rushforths most likely. Thanks

It depends from the rim diameter and from the tire profile you're going to use. If you can give the size's we can help you better.

      For example

      305/60-15 on 15x10 wheels = OK
305/35-20 on 20x10 wheels = very close, depends from the tire manufactoror
      305/30-18 on 18x10 wheels = too skinny wheels I woudn't use, needs 10 1/2" wide.

You can check what tire manufacturer recommends for the wheel size from manufacturers web-pages, catalog or from summitracing.com pages.

I have 295/25/20 on my 10 inch wide and they are to narrow. Seems like it was a stretch for them just to get the beads sealed. I kind of expect the tires to bulge past the wheel lip and the contact to be about the same. My contact is at most 9.5 inches. Needs 315 on there but they start to cost a lot at that size, especially when the current ones are mounted and balanced.

I intend to run them on a 19X10 rear wheel. I talked with Jason Rushforth and he confirmed I could run a 295/35/19 KDW but if I can go to a 305 and get a little more width I would prefer it. Just looking for some of you tire/wheel guys to chime in with your thoughts.

      thanks

a LOT of chevelle guys are running a 305/35/20 on a 10. remember that a 10 is really an 11 so you wont have as much bulge as you think.

btw... whats jason going to set you up with???????

I am torn between the Rated X and the Night Trains. Polished lip with brushed centers. I am waiting until the Good Guys show in Pleasanton in 2 weeks to check them out in person and make sure that is the finish I want. I am leaning towards the Rated X's though.

Basic rule is the taller tire the skinnier wheel it will tolerate.

295/25-20 is 25.8" tall compared to 305/35-20 is 28.4" tall. I'have 295/30-20 (27") rear tires in my car with 20x10 wheels. I would love to have a 315/35-20 tires but my wheels are too skinny for them, I should have 10.50" wheels. Once these 295/30-20 are burnt away I will replace them with 305/35-20 tires, since allmost every manufaturer says that the 20x10 wheel is minimum for the 315/35-20 - so I can use it and have more meatier look with taller tire.

      --------
      edit:
Sory, I wrote wrong, 20x10 is minimum wheel for the 305/35-20 tire.

Ummm. Looks a lil stretched from here. That 11" wheel could use a lil more tire. Just my opinion. When a car looks like its riding on the sidewalls when its not moving it looks a lil thin for me. Nice car though.. JR

We set up almost every 68-72 chevelle that we do with 18x10s or 20x10s and mount up 305s for them on every order. It just fits right! We also run 18x9's up front with 275s. Like the Chevelle up top that was posted, we mounted those suckers!

Call us if you want wheels mounted on tires, or just tires, we can help you out.

      1970 Chevelle wheels

Hey guys sorry, I'm late to the party but can anyone confirm backspacing for stock 1970 Chevelle 12bolt rear end 18/8 front- 18/10.5 rear. ordering BC forged wheels here shorty just wanted to see if anyone has more information. wanted to run 11in" in the rear, initially, but I don't want to have to roll the fenders. I prefer the look of a more deep lip rear so I'm open to recommendations.
ALSO Tire\Size used. below is my inspiration.

The deep lip comes with lower backspace. You don't need to roll the quarters for and 11, but if you want the deep lip the rear will need to be narrowed. Stock width rear with usually run 6.25 backspace on 11" wheel. 10.5 you might be able to do 6"... Your brake setup will also come into play so keep that in mind.
      Big dreams, small pockets....

I have 305/30-19's & 305/35-19's both on 10.5" wheels, which is probably the ideal width.
The 35's may be ok on a 10" wheel, but the 30's will likely be pulled in too much.
Oddly enough the tread width is slightly wider on a 30 than a 35 with most tire brands.
