      69' tail section color?

O.k., I am trying to go for yet another differrent look. I filled where the rear quarters met the tail peice on the car and now I have no place to break the black. I want to black out the tail section of the car (only to the bumper) but am a little worried where to break the body color and the black. attached is where my painter suggested and he and his employees seemed to like it. if it is hard to see it is at the edge of the rear quarter. I like it, but am a little worried that it just won't look right. the body color is a custom mixed dark graphite with white pearl and fine aluminum flake. What do you all think. body color or black it out????

I think that if you are going to black it out then they are right about where to do it. I would not do it but that is just me. I think it will look good if you do it where they recommend...if that is what you want. Should look good/interesting/different...good luck.

I like the breakline moved in a bit on the sides where the factory line would be so you see a 3/4" line of body color to match the trunk edge that will show and be body color. A tape line there would be no problem.

I like the idea of semi gloss black back there on your color.

Actually, the rear black is going to be a high gloss and the front grill will match. when they did it originally, wasn't the rear color a semi gloss? I don't want it to look original at all. Have you seen what it will look like with just a tape line there. I am kind of wondering about that? I don't want it to look unfinished?

The original was a semi-gloss and only found on the factory big block cars of the day. I've done a couple of "black out's" and I broke the line on the body seams. I agree with PC on the placement...just make sure it's uniform. My opinion? Since you asked, body color or flat/semi gloss, I don't think I would want to emphasize that portion by making it a gloss, just my option however.

I wouldn't black it out if the body color is dark. There won't be enough contrast to make it worth while IMO.

the body color is dark...in dark lighting...in the sun...light brings out a bright silver. I am not to fond of flat or semi gloss colors. even the black on my dash is going to be gloss black. thanks for you opinions though. having the seem filled I am a little scared of not having the tape line 110% perfect.

First of all it is your car! You should do what you want!

Second of all I think flat black is killer I would black out the rear about like prodigy said, if you want it shinny black thats fine but I do think it would look great flat! Tapelines are something to worry about, we have actually been clearing our cars 2 and 3 times to bury the lines it is time consuming but the end result is much better! Let us no what you decide

Alright guys, valuing your opinions, I decided to bring the line from the quarter about 3/4 of an inch in like prodigy suggested to give the black a framed look. But, to give it a "custom" look I kept the black a high gloss. I will send pics in the project update section after my painter shoots the car. Thanks for all of your opinions.
