Nice looking build. I always wondered about body work, maybe you can shed some light for me. Once you get it as straight as you can is bondo acceptable? I understand its a thin coat to smooth things out but how does that hold up say 10yrs from now, any cracking? I've never done any body work before but am looking for a project car and wasnt sure about what you do if you cant get something perfect and no replacement panels are available.

a Vega??? (edit: I hope at least you're putting a Ford motor in it)

haha, kidding.... but I'd definitely like to see more progress on the Fords! I guess I'm probably outnumbered on this site for that ;)

When I'm back home in St. Pete I'll definitely run by your shop (I own a house in Port Richey).

The Vega belongs to a friend of mine who has raced Chevy's since 1970. He went with me to an NMRA race in Bradenton a few years ago and the next day bought a 94 Mustang that he races once in awhile and drives on the street.

I look forward to meeting you.

As long as you use a good quality bondo it will hold up. I always strip the body to bare metal and than spray SPI epoxy on it than do my bondo work.

pretty sure if its an old car it's going to have some bondo in it if you want it to be straight...or if you do any sheet metal replacement..

I think it's time to start working on the Fairlane again.

The roll cage has been epoxy primed

I had to do a little body work on the inside of the quarter panel

It is time to work on the Fairlane. When I stopped working on it I had the major bodywork finished and epoxy primed it to stop the rust. Now comes the hard part many hours of block sanding and priming.

I thought all the major body work was finished but I was wrong. The roof had a lot of small dents that needed to be repaired.

We had a little spare time so Brian welded up a few rust holes in the rear window channel and I did some more bodywork

I should have it in prime again soon and than I can start the block sanding.

      Thanks John

It seals the bodywork and keeps any moisture out.

Block sanded the body with 80 than 180 and than sprayed 2 coats of SPI Turbo primer. It's getting closer.

We mounted it on the rotisserie so we can clean up the bottom and finish welding it.

Brian finished welding the front floor pan and toe board patches.
