6.0 engine and 4l80 trans opinions

      Hello,
I have found a 6.0 engine and 4l80 trans out of an 04 2500 truck and I am looking for opinions on whether I should go this route in my camaro or not???? If I get this engine, I plan on swapping to the shorter intake and possibly a cam. I would appreciate all advice on motor, brackets, intake etc.... I thought I would ask before I pull the trigger. Thanks..

6.0 are good motors especially if you want to run turbos. You can find a lond of info on 6.0 on ls1tech.com many have done this same swap.

You will need to post more info as to what your goals would be.

Thanks for the info. I want to change the cam for more hp as well as the sound. Of course that requires some computer changes as well. Hopefully pump some more hp out of it. I am concerned about the front accessory setup. I know when you go with the car intake the throttle body sits lower and will hit the water pump. I would like to avoid paying 2,000 for front accessory setup. I would like to find a factory setup from another engine that would work.

If you want a mean sounding cam with mild hp gain the comp thumpr cams do the job if you want a better hp the tr224 cam is the most common.

you cna use your stock brackets but you will need to relocate one idler. Also info can be found on same site.

      here's a thumpr cam

That cam sounds great in the G8. What kind of hp do you think I could get out of the 6.0 with that cam swap and computer reprogram and of course exhaust. I think the motor stock should be from 300 to 325 hp.

The 4l80e trans is an excellent trans.
