I wonder if it will gain me enough clearance compared to the leaf spring rear for me to think about adding mini tubs.
It is a bolt in but we welded it in place. It will give you a little more clearance. You will have to modify the frame rail if you mini tub.

Hey Rusty, I am patching the cowl on my 67 Fastback and need to replace the inner kick panel area. Trying to decide to splice in(butt weld) in front of door post or remove the dash and replace the entire panel. How hard is it to remove the dash and get it back in exactly where it was located. Looks like two tabs, one on each side is spot welded to the lower kick panel side and then on the ends in the windshield post area. I was thinking of drilling a few 1/8" alignment holes to aid in getting it back in just the right position. I also have to make a couple patches where the pillar area overlaps the lower kick panel in the upper corner. Its thick metal and unique shape. Thinking to make it by cutting it in to 2 or 3 pieces that will be easier to shape and then weld together. I think I saw some pics where you guys fixed this area to. You by chance have the link or can post? Thanks

      Rusty,
I've seen your work over on s10forum.com(Current Performance LS-S10) and now over here. You're s%^! is awesome!!! That bodywork and paint is amazing and like Leigh said, even the mask is off the charts. Love watching your updates too. Really lets me see how a reputable shop would do things. Maybe with some work I can transfer some of that to my home garage. Keep it up!

If it is not rusted out by the dash I would butt weld the side panels we have done that on a couple of Mustangs and it is a lot easier than removing the dash

Can you post a picture of area you are talking about? We have repaired the hinge area a few times.

I have the cowl removed and the top portion is in really good shape. I have the lower cowl end patch and th the lower kick panel area to replace. The upper corner l needs some attention and I don't have replacement pieces for this area so I guess I need to fab something up.

Having trouble uploading pics. Will figure it out and get a couple posted.

Here is the bad area upper right corner. The new lower kick panel goes up under this piece which I am replacing as well. Will probably just butt weld it in front of the door jamb. The area under this upper piece is rusty to so I will will probably need to make a patch underneath before i weld this in. Last picture is first attempt at a patch for this area. I won't weld it to the upper part until I remove and replace that. To replace the very bottum piece I may need to remove that whole piece that the door bolts thru to get at it good. thoughts?

Brian is polishing the body so we can get the sheetmetal back on. It takes up a lot of room in the shop when you have everything on stands.
