      Housefired 1st gen....

Bought this car from a gentleman a while back. I know the answer to this question, but do you think it is savable? Just wanted to get all your opinions.

It's a 69 Camaro (zero rust) that was fully dressed with a 400sbc and an M21 with a 12 bolt. Very nice car, but she burned down inside the garage of a big house fire. All the parts were gone by the time I found it, but i did end up getting the doors with it.....that's about it.

Whatdaya think? Fixable? Wouldn't want to touch it? Why not?

      Pics.......

      Before the fire........

After the fire, taken apart, and about 2 years outside........

BTW.....I have a cool story on this car.

I'd do it. It looks like a much more solid base than my '68 was.

Well, after the fact of my purchase, I was thinking of heat damage to the important structural parts of the unibody. So after hours of research and then house of measurements, I found the chassis to be damn strait. So I went ahead with the restore.

Believe it or not the first picture posted in this thread was taken on September 25th 2008. The rest are soon there after.

I did all the work myself, ok-ok, I had a few friends help with big stuff like hanging the doors and fitting the hood/glass, but everything else was done by yours truly.

Replaced both full quarters, deck filler, roof skin, tail panel and both door skins (reused the door shells). I used some original GM sheet metal off of another 69 Camaro I had to finish the body work. Pretty much the entire front clip. Bought a new header and lower valance to finish it all off.

Installed a 6 point roll bar, built a custom dash, worked in a 4th gen column, installed an LS1 and a T56 six speed, built 8.5" 10 bolt w/3.73 richmonds and eaton posi, 17" Torque-Lite AM wheels, disk brakes F&R......and some coll drit style seats from someone on craigslist. lol.

In short, here are some beginning to current pics.......

And as of this moment, she sits with one month old paint and is almost completely assembled.

I just wanted to show her off ......

Very nice. Always nice to see one come back from the dead (almost).
My '72 was nearly totalled, but after $19K (from the soccermom that hit me's insurance co.) and a couple years of work it's almost back on the road as well.
