Lets give some love to the A-Bodies!

One trend I see with pro-touring is that there area alot of camaros. Lets see some A-Bodies. If you got an A-body lets hear your plans and see some picks. I would like to see what everyone intends to do with them and how they are set up. I will start with mine. It is a 69 chevelle that I plan to autocross, drag race and road race hopefully. I plan on driving it all over the place. Specs will be as followed.
      • 496 big block, eagle crank and rods, edlebrock heads, relatively mild cam and carb to support around 550hp. EFI or LS3 later.
      • TH400 tranny, 4L80e tranny with paddle shift when funds allow
      • Currie 9" rear 3.89 gears, locker, narrrowed 2"
      • Everything SC&C suggested for suspension. ATS, Currectrac, etc.
      • C6 Z51 brakes
      • Boxed and reinforced frame and a street friendly roll bar.
      • 18" Rushforth SuperSpoke Wheels (smoked titanium) and Nitto or Toyo rubber
      • Paint will be satin black and some other color for a hood stripe and side stripe. Bumpers and trim will be powder coated to compliment wheels
      • Comfortable but functional and safe interior, not decided on details yet.
I know there are a couple gorgeous A-bodies in this forum. Lets see them and more all in one thread. As stated above I want to hear how they will be driven and where. I will be attending (once done) as money events as I can on the west coast. It would be great to start ganging up on and beating some camaros at events like the goodguys autocross.

Mine will finally hit some autocrosses this summer. I also will get to a drag strip and hopefully a road course too. I got it all together and worked out the new car bugs last summer, and now it's ready to go.

383 SBC w/ AFRs and a solid roller. Made 545 on the engine dyno (with a LOT better headers than I have on it now LOL!), T56 6-speed, Currie 9 with 3.89s, 17x8s, 20 mpg on the freeway. SC&C and ATS suspension goodies up front, Hotchkis stuff in back. Baer 13.5-inch rotors with 6 piston calipers in front, Currie Explorer discs in the rear. It's a blast to drive everywhere.

      It's not gorgeous though. I can't afford gorgeous...LOL!

But I like it, and it ain't bad for a 4-door wagon. More pics in the link below...

Here's a car I hope to someday get built. Four doors and it will be my good family cruiser. Someday....

Some of you have probably seen my two A-bodies, but here they are...

'66 El Camino, 454 (505hp 555lb), TKO-600, Vintage Air, Global West front/rear, Baer front/rear, Intro wheels w/ Nitto rubber, Pypes 3" exhaust, and nice paint.

It's a cruiser, autocrosser, dragracer, show car, PT Longhauler, 3-time magazine feature car (and 2-time cover car), you name it, this car has done it, and it's been done in all kinds of weather!

'66 Chevelle, 454 (619hp 570lb), TKO-600, SPC/ATS front, Global West rear, Baer front/rear, Forgeline wheels w/ BFG rubber, Spin Tech exhaust, Fab Shop roll bar and front/rear spoilers.

This is my noisy street/track day car. The engine redlines at 7200 rpm but I can drive it all day long. In fact, this engine used to be in the El Camino and I built it about four years ago so the bugs have been worked out. The car itself needs some road time and adjustments but so far it seems to be doing pretty good.

I don't really consider mine a P/T car more of a restomod with a few PT enhancements. Link in the signature. Should be on the road with in a few weeks.

Mine isn't pro touring yet. But we'll have to see what happens after I get the Camaro done. It does have a good start as a pro tourer though, 454 T56. 75 MPH 2000 RPM, sooo cool.
      .

If I would have known the paint was going to come out that well I would have done a better job.
