      Speaking of junk.....

.....here's one more '64 Pontiac A-body from my stash.

Not a Pro-Touring car and doesn't handle very well at all, but a lot of fun nonetheless.

1971 455 HO-powered with a reverse-pattern transbraked TH400 and a 10" 3500 flash-stall converter. The 3.89-geared Ford 9" with a Detroit Locker helps it lay two nice even patches of rubber on the roadway from time time. This one saw 10 years of bracket racing battles on the strip before I retired it and put it back on the street.

This will replace the '71 455 HO: A 1969 +.030 400 engine (406 cubes) equipped with 72cc Edelbrock heads, topped with a rare repro of a factory '63 Pontiac 421 Super Duty 'bathtub' tunnel ram intake and twin 575 cfm 1966 GTO Carter AFB carbs.

      Current state of my '68:

      ATS/SPC/SC&C suspension w/ Eibach's & Varishocks. Kore3 c6 brakes.
468 cu. in. Olds (approx. 425 HP/500 TQ), currently at Zoop's to mock-up a new serpentine-belt conversion for the big block Olds.
Eventually will have a TKO 600, 12 bolt, and so on. Someday...

Plugging away on the Chevelle = yes but slowly as its much easier to play with motorbikes after my back surgery.

      The Chevelle.
Front suspension is together with coilovers, brakes, steering and all, just need power steering cooler/hoses and the swaybar put in to be complete.
The engine and trans are in the frame and one and a half Stainless header is done.
The rear suspension is mounted in the frame but need the two brackets for the 4links welded in, and the swaybar ends adapted.

then its building a gas tank, driveshaft, exhaust and a testdrive. With this pace by 2015 I'll be there.

I dont have your email anymore so if you dont have mine I'll PM you.

      ciao

I guess I will throw mine into the pot. I love seeing all the Olds on here it gives me inspiration and hope.

      Here is mine before teardown

And this is how it sits now

I just finished welding up the firewall now need to smooth it out and fix the rust (not to bad). Also have the frame boxed and all the seams welded up now just collecting parts for the suspension. Just seem like along way off.

well, here's some old pics. I'm going to post my "winter updates" in the near future as the car has had several changes in the last few months. But thanks on the kudos, I appreciate it.

Your welcome. I am very happy with the response to this thread as well. This is exactly what I was hoping to see. Cars in various states of assembly, high end beasts, low buck sleepers and moderate well sorted out P/T cars. It turns out there is alot of us out there and some very fine examples. My car will have alot of similarities when done to some of these cars but will still be unique to itself. My goal was to have a car that will stand out and not ever be confused with another car but at the same time be classy and stand the test of time.

It's a cruiser, autocrosser, dragracer, show car, PT Longhauler, 3-time magazine feature car (and 2-time cover car), you name it, this car has done it, and it's been done in all kinds of weather!

This is my noisy street/track day car. The engine redlines at 7200 rpm but I can drive it all day long. In fact, this engine used to be in the El Camino and I built it about four years ago so the bugs have been worked out. The car itself needs some road time and adjustments but so far it seems to be doing pretty good.

I love that airdam! How did you fab it up?

Thanks! The Fab Shop in Pound, VA made it along with the rear spoiler, the pan around the air filter, and the roll bar.

      I've got two A-bodies.

The first is a 69 El Camino. I've had this car since 1990, my dad had it since 1977. The car has 500,000 miles on it. It's currently torn apart to get the full PT treatment - as pictured it was a 396/TH350, currently getting an LS6/T56.

The other is a 65 Malibu SS convertible. It's been patiently waiting its turn for a while, and I've gotten to the point that I hate my daily driver so much that its turn is now. Found - literally - in a barn, it had no engine or tranny but it was originally a 327/4spd, manual everything and with the rare Evening Orchid Metallic paint.

      Pic from the barn:

Car had sat outside for years (or the barn leaked) with the top torn up like that so lots of rust. New pans, quarters, trunk floor, etc, and car looks like this now:

The parts I've been taking off the El Camino as part of its PT transformation for the most part bolt right up to this, so should be simple enough to get it running.

      Another '64 junker.....

.....that's next in line after I'm done with the Tempest project, a Lemans convertible with factory air conditioning and power windows.

I have a +.040 455 that's ready to go together that will be topped by the old '66 Tri-Power unit from the Tempest (after swapping to the aluminum repro intake pictured below), backed by a TH400 trans with a tight-10" Continental converter and a 3.36 posi 8.2" 10-bolt.

I'll swap back and forth between the narrow whitewalls on stock 14X6" steel wheels and '64 custom spinner hubcaps and a set of 17X8" black steel wheels with dog dish caps (another Tempest 'leftover') depending on my mood.
