Prep work on new pieces.
I'm scuffing my new inner fenderwells and radiator support with the red scotchbrite pad. I'm wondering when you burn through the black primer on them, do I need to prime over these spots before I paint them? I'm going to be using the ChromaOne single stage. I thought about just spraying some etch primer over the bare metal, letting that dry, and then shooting the paint on? Thanks guys...

To do it correctly, you should etch it, prime it, then spray it. But I would say since it won't get alot of sun, I'd at least etch it first. You should be ok.

I remove all the factory primer, it is not to good. Then etch prime, and light coat of urethane or epoxy primer to prevent dieback over etch primer.
But that is just me, and i usually over due everything.

Actually the factory primer is not bad. But I usually scuff sand, seal with an epoxy primer like PPG DP 40 and paint.
