      Best exhaust for 68 Camaro

Looking to upgrade tired 2" exhaust for 68 camaro, want 2.5" mandrel bent, nothing too fancy, will never have more than 400hp. Leaning toward Flowmaster, anyone have eny experience with Flowmaster? Or recommend something else?

Pypes crossflow with the Racepro muffler or even their dual muffler system. Very high quality stainless systems, plus there affordable!

I have the American Thunder 2.5" Flowmaster kit and think its fine... some cutting of pipes for proper fit. I also like the Pypes kit but have no hands on experience with it.

We sell and install a lot of Magnaflow. Besides sounding great and making good power on the dyno, Magnaflow is all stainless and stays looking good and last forever.

$500 will put a ccomplete headers back system with a X Pipe on your car.

We have Magnaflow on the shelf.

It didn't say if you have headers or manifold. I really like the Pypes X-pipe. I should meet up to your header collector or down pipes and go back to the mufflers. Mufflers are a personal choice. I like my 18 inch Magnaflows and hated my Flowmaster 40s. PYpes will sell just the stainles pipes at a decent price so you can pick your mufflers.

If you are trying to stay real inexpensive, The Summit kit is USA made and fits good. It is load though

I 2nd this!! I have a 2.5" magnaflow system and I love the sound, it is really something that you have to hear in person. Plus the magnaflow mufflers are a straight through design, no hp robbing baffles!

Too bad your not closer! (Ca vs Wi) I'm pulling a flowmaster American Thunder 2 1/2" system with dual Delta 40's off of my car to switch to a 3" set-up.

Thanks for the feedback, I really want something loud but not boomy, I hate the exhaust systems that are boomy or drony, especially when at a RPM where you spend a lot of time, like 1500--2500RPM.

Is the Magnaflow or Flowmaster boomy?

Frank, is that system a twin muffler system? I have a Flowmaster on my car, but it was installed crooked and welds look like poop as well as having to be removed to get the cross member in. I may just hack it off because of this as well as it's a single muffler with dual in/out.

      Thanks!

Here are a couple sound clips,

And here is the 2 1/2" system, 3" look just like it.

      I recommend 2 1/2" up to 500HP., 3" over 500HP

      Systems are in stock!

Here are 3 video clips. One is a litte 383 (prolly 500HP?) we built with a 3" Magnaflow X Pipe system, the other is the Back in Black car with a 450HP LS6 with a 2 1/2" Magnaflow X pipe system. The 3rd is Vegas69 650HP big block with 3" X Pipe and no tailpipes right now

I have the Back and Black car in my garage right now for some magazine photos shots. I was driving it yesterday and commented on how nice and mellow (but deep) the sound at cruise was. I am a stereo nut and really like comfortable cars. I cannot stand stupid loud exhaust.

      Back in Black, LS6, 450HP, 2 1/2" magnaflow X Pipe system ($500 delivered)

      Russ 67, 383 SBC / 500HP?, 3" Magnaflow X Pipe system, ($650 and free shipping)

And here is our customer Vegas69 Badd Ass 650HP big Block with a 3" Magnaflow X Pipe system and dumps in front of the rear. Tailpipes will mute it a bit.

From what Ive read elsewhere about these kits for the convertible models, there is some "modification required", but it does not say exactly what modifications...

Part Number 15899 is the 3 inch Magnaflow system...

(modification required) the trans tunnel brace needing to be trimmed? I bought the global west kit that says you can run up to a 3" inch exhaust. I'm wondering if they mean It may require a custom made exhaust rather than a "pre-made" kit such as the Magnaflow system?

I bet it will have a problem with the X pipe locatiion. :(

Well that is settled. Now I just gotta save some $$ for an engine to put in front of it.
