      Priming EFI Pump before first start - no pressure

      So I'm getting ready to crank it for the first time today.

      I have sprayed some gas into the throttle body and when we crank it wants to fire so I'm good on the ignition side.

      I have turned the key 4-5 times hear the fuel pump running each time but the pressure gauge on the rail shows no pressure 0.



      When I check the fuel line gas comes pouring out of it at the fuel filter under the car so its pumping fuel.

      Should I just keep cycling the pump? Seems like thats not the answer.

      When we did the TPI swap in my car, it took several pump cycles to have enough pressure to fire the motor up. If you want to be sure though, just disconnect the fuel filter, then disconnect the fuel line at the rail and blow air through just to make sure it's not blocked. I'd bet it's just going to need a few more cycles though to get it to fire up. Make sure the filter is on in the correct direction so it doesn't block the flow too.

      It should show pressure on the fuel rail gauge before I start it right?

      Well maybe good news.
      I'm running a Barry Grant fuel cooler and when I got it from summit or wherever it did not have instructions.
      Now thinking that could be the problem I'm finding that it has a one way check valve. Of course mine is installed backwards. So we will see if thats the problem.

      That was it. Fuel cooler was backwards.

      Have a bunch of leaks on some of my hardline so gotta work on that next.

      1 problem fixed, 2 problems found. :( ugg

      You can buy copper washers to help seal AN fittings to hardline. It's standard practice on aircraft and helped me get my system tight.

      I finally went to all SS-braided line as I could never get the joints to seal correctly and I was afraid of fire. Didn't hear about copper washers before, though.
