so why wont mine fit properly? i cant seem to get the rubber hose to bend enough so that the part behind the cap( the aluminum peice with the vent hole) to align flat againt the sheet metal? i spent 4 hrs trying last night and gave up.

When I installed mine, I first attached the filler tube (part with the vent hole) to the gas cap housing using the supplied bolts and gasket. Than I worked the filler hose onto both the gas tank lip and the filler tube. Make sure that you have the two clamps on the hose before you slip it on. I found that getting the hose on was the hardest part of this install.

okay i got it on, i had to do the same, attatch the filler tube first ( i wish there were 2 gaskets one for the cover and one for the tube) then lower gas tank down and force in the rubber hose

I did a search on ebay and found a bunch of vent filters on there for anyone interested.
