"Shorty" header plugs? whats the Perfect Plug???

I finally am getting my SBC running
I have small chamber iron heads, 69' vintage
      running around 9.5:1 compression

I need plug recommendation, one as a starting point anyway
      AC delco #?

and plugs that are shorter than normal, to fit behind headers <<<<<
(and no Accels header plugs, those foul)

      anyone found the perfect Plug???
      thanks!

Most of those older vintage iron SBC heads use an AC Delco R45TS.
I don't know of a shorty plug that AC Delco makes.
      Sorry.
A lot of guys us an NGK or Motorcraft plug. Don't know why , or which number on these brands though.
      Get another opinion besides mine.
      I don't know that much.

Your plug selection can depend on a bunch of things. Those heads should use washer head plugs R43 OR R43S. Accel plug 137 crosses to that, I'm unsure if that's a sort one.

      You're right about that.
I use the R45TS sparkplug in my Camaro , but I've got '71 heads and block. So they have the tapered seat.
I've also got one of the GM Performance Parts 350/290hp engines that uses the R45TS.

I think the older heads had a flat washer head sparkplug.
