      Wiper Motor Relocation Complete

Finally got my wiper motor relocated and it appears it will work out great - not to mention more smoothing on the firewall. The wiper motor will now be totally hidden under the left front fender.

Was really pretty simple. We fitted the fender to find a place where it would set and clear both the inner and outer fender. We then cut out around the existing mount location (opening and screw holes). We cut an opening in the drivers side firewall and welded in the previously cut out mount. We used a 3/8" rod and modified it to act as the driving arm in place of the old one. The old ends were cut from the existing drive arm and welded to the rod. The only thing you have to watch is to ensure you don't have any obstructions with your drive arm thru the single revolution. If the rod is stiff enough, you can add some bend to it so that it clears while the motor runs. This will look really sweet once we get the firewall all finished and painted. If you need more pics, I'll probably have some next week. Let me know any particulars.

I looked at solid rod, thought it may be heavy. I got some 1/2 square tubing we will use, but have not made it yet as it does not have power in the car yet. I was curious of what you used and how it worked.
Michael did basically the same thing and cut out the old mount, traced it, cut the new hole, fit like a glove, Did make for a nice finished product, can't find those pics.
Now we have reversed master cylinders to go under the dash, and are moving the bulk head, so all we will have on the firewall will be a sterring column.

Very nice..........I just finished doing the same thing to a 68 camaro that I am working on. We got the idea from a car magazine. It will help clean up the engine bay.Keep the pictures of your work coming....

i had to do this to a chevelle one time. ended up using a street rod wiper set up. allowed the wiper motor to be hidden inside the kick panel area. the aluminum tube that the worm gear rides through is completely hidden as well. just another possible option for anyone looking into it.
