      Ford AOD

Hi all. I was wondering, how tough is the ford AOD?

Also, what is the difference in feel between a lock-up and a non lock-up trans? Are non lock-up less fuel efficient?

      Thanks!

It's not all that tough, but you can get them built for cheap. Non-lockup's are less fuel efficient, because it's basically like riding a clutch, and revving your motor more than need be all the time.

..all things said and done I'd go lockup.

Not very strong stock, but with about 800$ can take 500ft-lbs easy. Alot of the 4R70W parts bolt right into an AOD (its just an updated electronically controlled AOD with a wider gear ratio)
