    New guy here!

I thought it was time to introduce myself. I have been a lurker for awhile now, and thought it was time to join.

I have owned a 66 Chevelle SS (had a small block in it....not sure what happened to the original 396) a 69 Chevelle SS 396-375 HP (I kept this one all stock), and a 68 Camaro SS. The Camaro was my experimental car because of all the different drive trane combos I tried out in it.

Then I got what I had always wanted and that was a Vette. My first Vette was a 71 convertable small block w/ 4 speed.

The project I am working on now is a 78 Vette. I am building it back the way I thought it should have been built in the first place..... Big Block! The body is off the frame right now, and it will be a while before it sees the street again, but I am having fun working on it.

Check out my website to see what I have done so far: http://www.bigdogvettes.com

I hope to learn a lot from you guys while I am building this Vette!

    Bill

I use to post a CAC, but I have not there in over a year now. I mostly hang out at digitalcorvettes and corvetteforum in the C3 section.

Did you get your garage built? I remember you were starting to build it just before I left CAC.

    Bill, good to see ya!

Yup, Got the Garage built, but not finished. I did the work myself.

Nothing freaks the neighbors out like hauling a backhoe into the back yard.
"I didn't know you knew how to operate a backhoe" says they
"I don't" says I, "but how hard can it be?" as I watch them run...
I dug a 6' trench from my house to my garage for my water line.

The detatched garage ended up being:
    - 24' deep, 30' wide, 9 1/2' interior ceiling height.
    - 6" thick slab using 28 mPa concrete
    - Rebar every 12"
    - In-Floor heating
    - 8' by 16' insulated double door for cars leaving 8' shop on the side.
    - 32' Steel door for people
    - Two 3' by 4' windows
    - Put in a 6' patio door on the south side, lets in TONS of light (Chris Mcdonald's idea)
    - Liftmaster Belt-Drive door opener
    - R12 insulation
    - OSB for the bottom 4' of the wall
    - Enclosed toilet
    - laundry sink
    - Used a furnace squirrel cage fan as exhaust fan
    - All the electrical wiring is done (2 outlets per Circuit)
    - Cable wiring is done
    - Telephone wiring is done
    - Wireless 902.11g done (from house)

Like any project, I still have a to do list which includes:
    - Finish the 200 amp panel and making the house a sub panel off the garage.
    - Hook up the in floor heating
    - Finish drywalling the top half
    - Painting
    - Floor finish
    - I would like to put in Craftsman style work benches

Uh... realize I am rambling now... I will need to mention to Larry that we need a Garage/Shop forum here as well.

    Again... good to see you!

Thanks!!! It is good to be here!

I visited Chris that last summer, and I noticed that the patio doors did let in a lot of light! That is a great idea!

BTW..... Chris let me drive his Killer Vette! What a cool car!! That was the highlight of my year!

I agree, a Garage/Shop forum here would be a cool idea!
