WTF!!! DSE 3" Drop Springs = NO DROP!!!

      OK...HELP! On my 68 Camaro I've had (in the last three weeks!);
      1- Dana 60 on stock Multi's
      2- 12 Bolt on stock Mono's w/ 1" lowering blocks
      3- 12 Bolt on stock Multi's
      4- 12 Bolt on DSE 3" drop Multi's...
Guess which gave me the HIGHEST ride hight? The DSE's! Same shackle length, same 12 bolt, same car. Why so high? It now sits an inch higher than the other multi's, and two inches higher than the mono's.
There is NO WAY that stock would be 3" taller than with the DSE's installed...
      HELP!!!!
      Thanks in advance...

have front spring bolt loose, and well as both side of shacckle loose, let car down onto the ground, then tq to correct specs, if you tighten these up while on a lift or other, it will cause susp bind and not sit like it should, i have never heard a complaint on dse 3 inch drop springs

Also, how worn or used are the other springs you used? Keep in mind the DSE springs will settle. Do like hotrdbldr says and put some weight in the back.

The DSE 3 inch rears only sit around a 1/4 inch lower than Hotckiss 2 inch drop. On the same car, even after letting it sit with sand bags in the trunk for a few months. So much for advertised sizes.

Jake is right on. I did the exact same thing when tightening the springs on my car. You can always add a 1" block if they still are not where you want them.

      good luck

Jim, I had this same problem a few years ago. Here's a thread I started that might help you out.

Jake nailed this one, I'm betting. We've all done that one I think.

Yeah - something is not right. If anything my 3" DSE springs might be a bit too low.

Thanks Tony, that was useful info.
Jake, I have been building Chevy's for over 20 years now, and your point, while valid, will not account for the height I'm seeing here. Remember, I'm comparing directly to the stock 68 Multi's and the stock 69 Mono's w/1" block. They were mounted and tq'ed the same way as the DSE's. A 40 year old spring should have some sag, but so that it's lower than a new 3" drop? And the car has a BBC Truck block, t-56 and full interior, so most of the weight is there...even tho I'm comparing spring to spring.

Take a pic of the car with the DSE leafs and send them to DSE. Kyle and Stacy are always very helpful.

If the spring is defective, I'm sure they will work with you. Your situation appears to be an anomolie, so I'm sure they would want to know.
