      Pro touring foxbody wagon

If you know foxbodies then you know there were other Ford vehicles built on the same chassis as the fox mustang. The 1985 Ford LTD midsized station wagon I have is one of those "other" cars. I am in the process of building this wagon into an awesome daily driving, 351 windsor, fuel injected, tremec 3550 5 speed, independent rear suspension, wagon. That is the plan anyway. The wagon is on a couple of other forums already but I feel it really will fit into the pro-touring concept, so a build thread in here seems appropriate.

I'm going to try to nab a four door sedan (also an 85) this weekend for a Lemons rally put on by some local college kids. Three days touring the region hoping your junk males it! Once I'm done I'll kill it for some parts unless I like driving it.

You should keep it and turn it into a MEN IN BLACK car!

I bought it for $500 from a charitable donation used car lot back in 2010.

I call it the Daddywagon. I bought it for $500 on a charity used car lot. I had a mustang with a busted engine sitting at home. I was aware of the chassis compatibility when I purchased the station wagon. This was and is my plan from the beginning. I'm no pioneer. Many others have already done this conversion. This is just my take on it. It is pretty much a bolt on proposition. No fabrication necessary.

This was the busted engine mustang. A p-600-b supercharger snapped the crankshaft. The brakes on this car were upgraded to cobra brakes. It also had ford racing springs and caster/camber plates.

A 1986 mustang gt convertible would supply the engine which would be backed by a tremec 3550. The convertible had been hit in the past and was rusting away. Should I have saved it? Maybe.

The 1986 gt engine was the first year with sequential electronic fuel injection. The pistons are forged flat tops with NO valve reliefs. Not the most powerful mustang engine for sure, but I remember the noise, the torque, and the smell, and I love it.

This picture has me thinking how easy it would be to build an engine stand to test mustang engines using an old k-member.
