      Can I replace a 700r4 with a 4l60e?

My 88 K1500 has a 700 and I know it won't llst me longer than a year. What do I need to do to put a 4l60e or 80e in it. Besides doing the crossmember what do I need to do for the wiring. Thanks, Andy

The 700 and 60e are the same trans dimensionally so its a bolt in swap. The 80e may or may not require crossmember movement since the 80e was available in the c/k trucks in later years. It might bolt right up to the crossmember or at most youll have to get a crossmember out of an 80e equipped truck in the bone yard.

Youll need a control unit for either the 60e or 80e as they are both electronically cotrolled transmissions.

BTW, lots of info you need in the following thread...
