Some local guy has had this Vega for sale for the past couple years. It looks like it would be a good starting point for a pro-touring car.

      Pro touring Vega

I own 2 cosworths one all original and the other one was purchased without an engine…you can say a cosworth is always a cosworth, and I am sure I will get some comments about that. I am building a pro touring vega….. I have removed everything that was cosworth suspension and fuel system. I am installing a Hooker Header body kit (IMSA), along with 4 wheel disc brakes from Wilwood, Ford 9” rear-end, 383 Chevy small block and 700R transmission.

I can't say with 100% certainty, but I believe they are 17x8. I seem to remember him using spacers/adapters and front wheel drive wheels.
He posts from time to time over at h-body.org.

My Monza is gonna be on 215/40/17 maybe 225/40/17 if I can get clearance.
7 in wheels in front, maybe 7.5.
Back I can run 255/50/17 I think.I am running ridetech coilovers and modifying for 4 link. Was thinking of on air but plans change. Caprice is going on air.

In my first post I mentioned that I would be running a small blooc, but now the car is set up for a LS 3 and a Tremec 5 speed.

      This is awesome!!

I have an idea swirling in my head like this, but more dirt track style.
Low valence / big spoiler, but with cut round fenders so the tires stick out from the body.
Think Dirt Modified with a hood and fenders........

I really like the rendering. Did you say what year this car is, or did i miss it?

      Hey Dale,
Will see how its goes this year....I am in the process of building the air dam right now...got the rear belly pan all mocked up. I will be blending the rear belly pan to the fenders after I get the car back from sand blasting and the frame painted.

I think Vegas have a lot of potential. I love that IMSA style build. I wanted to build something like that years ago.

Here is a poor photo of what I built in high school. I'll pretend my fabrication skills have improved since then. This was taken in about 1982 when I was a college freshman.

When I had my Vega GT wagon, I went to a powertour stop that was in Kalamazoo, Mi and a guy from Wisconsin had a early 70s blue with a black stripe hatchback with a sbc and 17's on it. Pretty bad lil car. Think he autocrossed that thing too. I talked to him a few times on a h-body web site but since I sold my car I quit visiting the site.
With the way my projects are going now, I shoulda kept the Vega. It was different and ran quite quick. Ran 12s with a mild sbc. Everybody would want to chat about that Vega.

That's a pretty decent price if it isn't riddled with rust.
