What Should Fuel Pressure Be Set At ??

I have a Big Block 396 with a Holley 650 Double Pumper Mechanical Secondaries. I am running a Holley Mechanical fuel pump straight to the carb. The pressure gauge on the fuel log reads 9psi. Is this too much pressure? Should I put a regulator on and set it around 6psi?

Should be fine up to 11 psi. After that you'd risk over powering the needle pressure. 6-8 psi is where I keep mine

I like 6 3/4 to 7 myself, As Vince mentioned your pushing the needle if you go much higher, and 7LBS should flow plenty even in drag racing situations.

Holley recommends no more than 5-7 psi of fuel pressure at idle for all of their 4150 series carburetors. They also require a minimum of 4 psi at WOT.

The base setting for a Holley is 6.5psi. No way run it at 11 or even 9 or you will have fuel coming out the vent tubes. If the guage say this and your not having problems it's reading wrong.

Mine's @ 7 too, I would get a regulator and drop it down to 7.

      6.5 - 7 psi is good. I've never heard of a needle/seat that could handle 11 psi!
