      caddy LS

      Is the caddy motor the same as the fbody motor (the caddy has front wheel drive)

      Yes, there are just some differences in the oil pan and accessory drive system due to the different platform. Aside from that it is an LS6 or 2 just like all the other cars.

      So because of the different drive set up it wont work in my fbody

      What Caddy engine ar eyou talking about? The only Caddilac that I know of that uses an LSx engine is the CTSV, which is RWD.

      Very true Andrew. I am assuming he is talking about a CTSV and is looking at an LS6 or 2.

      tb we need more info. What year firebird are we talking about? What year CTSV and engine are we talking about? You are being way too general. The Gen 3/4 engines are basically the same on the outside. So swapping the Cadillac front accessories and oil pan to LS1 fbody stuff is no big deal. However, are you working on a 4th gen or a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd?

      The FWD cars use the Cadillac-exclusive Northstar. You can get conversion kits to put a longitudinal tranny behind them, but the swap isn't as common as LSx swaps.

      Also the balancer is different , something to think about in the cost
      and if it will work with the fbody/vette acc. Go to the CTS V
      forum's on LS1 Tech lots of info on the differences.
