I only had a few minutes to play around with the car last night due to having to work late. But, I was able to cut the cross bar as well as work on a different frame side panhard bar mount. I still plan to triangulate this mount but wanted to give it a little more beef as well as I think it looks a little more planned out this way... You know, like I actually thought about it for more than 5 minutes

It doesn't look too complicated until you realize that the frame rail has a 15 degree downward slope and a 5 degree kick out. My table adjustment was getting a workout on the bandsaw last night for sure. Actually, I don't think I had ever moved it until last night! Yikes.

I like the new upper section of the panhard mount! I don't think I would have thought of that.

Thanks guys! I will probably not have much progress over the next couple of weeks as we do some rearranging in the shop. Also I plan to put my Z/28 on the ground to make it a roller. Hopefully this will help out in selling it. Thirdly (word?) I need to start running some power over to a new area of the shop so we can move our Universal Laser System. It will be nice to get it into an airconditioned room. The laser tubes will stay cooler and run at more consistent wattages... So yeah, going to be a busy few weeks.

My dad worked for Universal Laser in the 80's, lol. I've learned more abut lasers than I'm ever going to need. What kind of system are you using and what for? Have you ever been to their office? If so, keep an eye out for the plexiglass blocks with 3D images burned inside them, that was one of his last projects there. I think he still has some of the anodized aluminum business cards they made.

Okay, not really a Studebaker update but hey... I figured I would keep you guys posted. So, here is a before and after of our shop. Our renter was one dirty guy...

And after 12 hours of painting and floor stripping/waxing...

Now THAT'S a shop! I'm stuck working in a corner of my warehouse where I've carved out a little niche because my garage at home won't fit my Fury. Think I should have used a smaller car, LOL?

BTW Philip, did you machine/fab the Panhard Bar sliding adjustment blocks or are they something you purchased along the way? They appear to be a very simple, yet elegant solution.

LOL, yes your car is too large!!! J/k It will be nice to spread out into this area of the shop. Also not having to lock up your stuff in fear of your renter helping himself will be nice as well.

      Thanks!
I've been considering the use of a Watts Link, but considering the minimal suspension travel my Fury will have I just don't know if it's worth the fabrication and packaging hassles as compared to a Panhard. Oh well, I've still got time to figure it out.

      Thanks again,

      Bob

This is crazy. I saw one of these the other day and thought it would make a rad pt car. I put it on my list of cars that I wanted to do a rendering of. I was researching photos and came across this build! Its surreal. I am not even joking, you picked pretty much the same wheels that I planned to use in the render. I can't wait to see this completed! Keep up the awesome work.

Do you know any production numbers on these cars? How rare they are? Or what a fair value is? All the ones I've seen are rusted out 3 or 4 times worse that what you started with. That one looks pristine!

Thats funny becuase I am kinda hearing that they are usually rusted out from a few other people as well... Guess I got luckier than I thought. Sorry for jacking your idea bud... well not really !!! LOL

I paid 1k bucks for this car and a guy I just me recently has about 5 more of them in his back yard. Along with a bunch of other Sutde's. Are they rare? I'm really not sure. I hadn't even seen one before or maybe I had and wasn't paying attention when this one came up for sale on CL. This car bounced around town here for a few owners and now here it is. Good luck on your hunt and let me know if I can help at all.

Hey guys! Just wanted to say that I am getting ready to jump back on this beast. After selling one of my Camaros and cleaning/reorganizing the shop we have been working on my other 69Z doing some long awaited upgrades.

I did get the front K member from Bart a few weeks ago and he went over the CAD drawings with me again so as soon as my Z is back together I will be ready to tack that in and start moving forward on the front suspension. Hopefully I will have some good updates for you guys by mid-January.

      Talk again soon!

Not a huge update but hey, it something! LOL

I changed the mounting on the axle side of the panhard bar as well as planning out my frame side bracing. Also got the K member tacked in and started mocking up the upper cross shaft as well as the spindle. Some photos...
