Camera mount for rollbar-where to get???

I'd like to get my video camera mounted on my rollbar for track days, but have not seen an outlet for the mount.
Anyone know where a guy can get one of these?

      I O Port has them, it's a good mount. http://www.ioportracing.com/
One thing, don't use a camcorder which has a hard drive, they don't work AT ALL! Use the tape type.

What happens with the hard drive camcorder? I just bought one hoping it would be indestructable. Vibration screw it up?

Good point David. I could see the hard drive being damaged. It's not all that hard to do just dropping a laptop a short distance.

We bought a new JVC hard drive camera to use in Mary's Camaro. EVERY time we got on the gas, the camera would shut down! When powered back up, the camera indicated it needed to reformat the hard drive losing anything it recorded. We didn't have any damage to the drive that I can tell, but never recorded any video after several tries.

At an autocross, the camera only recorded about two seconds of leaving the line, then stopped. Our old 8mm tape camcorder has worked just fine. Our Camaro has a shoulder harness cross-bar, we mounted the camera right in the middle between the seats, we also bought a clip-on panoramic rearview mirror for inside the car, the camera sees this mirror just fine and during replay we can see forward and rearward. Keep the lens at wide angle, no zoom.

So much for new/better technology! My High 8mm works great for 20 minute sprint races and 3 hour enduros.

I think I got it from IO Port. There are two sizes and I got the larger one, but I'd like to try the smaller one. I raised the mirror up as much as possible to get it out of my forward field of view. You can still see fine out the back and out the sides pretty well where a car would be overtaking to pass you.

      Here are the mirrors.
We have the 17" but the 11" might be OK, I don't know if the 11" has as much curve.

Here is a pic of what our video camera sees in the car while waiting on grid.

This was taken by pointing my digital camera at the TV screen while playing a DVD of the run. A pretty quick and dirty way of doing it.

Got a cataloge with the video mount that shows the mirror. Thx again.
The mount worked awesome other than the cowl hood is so tall it makes it tough to see much of the cars ahead (not that that condition lasts very long of course) so I'll have some adjusting to do.
Worked awesome though, with very little vibration. COOL!!!!!

Keep the camera zoomed all the way back to keep vibrations down.
I wonder if you could space the camera up somehow?

Yeah, I used no zoom. I'm going to have to figure out something to have the camera see more of the road ahead. Thx!

I emailed JVC about the hard drive video camera quitting. They don't recommend recording to the hard drive for racing use. BUT the JVC model we have will also record to a media card! He stated the hard drive does not spin when recording to the media card. There are three qualities of video, at the highest quality I think we can get almost 28 minutes on a 2 gig card, 1 hr at "Normal".

I found where I can shut off the "Drop Protection" which may prevent shut down but at the risk of damage to the hard drive.
      David

P.S. our camera is the JVC GZ-MG30U
