      shift light

For those looking for a small nice shift light check this one out. It's small enought to fit where your cig lighter goes. I checked and it will fit inside the cig lighter. You'll need to do a little fabing to make it work completely. But it will work.

Might check their site to see if you have a dealer close to you. I'm lucky and have one in my town.

Ok here's an update on an OLD thread. I was finally able to get to a point where I needed to mock up my shift light. My cig lighter idea works just fine. Here are a few pics I took. The first is of the standard 2 piece cig lighter and the shift light. There are no mods to the outside shell. The next two show the drilled out inner sleeve and all the crap that you can throw away. The last pic is the light and lighter installed in the dash. The red cap is a dimmer cap for night racing. The light also has a black cap for when you don't want to see the light. You can also run with no cap for full brightness.

I found with my shift light I need it right in my line of sight to see it. How does this work for you being down low?

Not sure yet since the car is still in the build process. But, the cig lighter on a first gen 'Bird is right near the top of the dash and well within the field of view. And with 7 pretty bright LEDs it should be pretty easy to see. With the cover off it's pretty bright even in the sun light. WIll be interesting to see how well it works.
