The mounts (actual brackets) are different. Just like Corvette mounts are different from F-body mounts, from GTO mounts, from CTS-V mounts. There is no difference in the holes in the block or heads for the accessory mounts. For instance I will be using C5 accessory mounts on the 5.3L that I am building.

YEs I am referring to the L92 heads they are LS7 Toss outs and ended up on a 400 hp truck engine.
The problem i see with the L92 heads is the EX flow is on the low side so I am going to Buck up and buy the LS7 heads at the last min . As Gm is also working on 6 bolt per cyl LSX heads to go with the LSX block
This stuff Has the Professer Warren J behind it all for prostock class

No they will NOT fit any 5.3 or 6.0
Thats Why I said to buy the NEW performance block Bore and Stroke it to 427 or near 500 Ci on the CHEAP.
The cost of a 572 and the weight is pointless with these new Super SB'S. The strength and reliabillity of a Gen3 is far greater....
Gm STATES The New LSX block is good for2k HP +.....
You can build a 500 Inch SB makin 700 + HP NA for shy of 10k.
You just have to do your homework and that starts at LS1Tech.com

If memory serves me right 5.3 is actually 325 cid not 327 it makes 327 Hp.

My 4 door truck starts to break the tires loose in the middle of an intersection as I run for a yellow bone stock or as I accellerate onto the fwwy.
I am very Impressed with the power of this lil engine

EDIT: Wrong head Number info Srry

LQ9 heads are 317 heads and they fit a 5.3L just fine. You mean L92?

Matt You will notice I SOLD a 496 With a ton of good stuff just to start over from scratch with and LSX platform.

I had a 4 Blt block Scat crank and Hbeam rods, JE custom 10.5:1 Pitsons, Zero gap rings setup for BIG shot o Squeeze (400 Hp +)
Aluminum heads Merlin, Jessel Belt drive, BIG solid roller bumpstick,
Victor intake and 1050 Dominator carb, + more it cost me upwards of 13k for machine work and parts.
I dumped it for 6k, Wich took 9 months to sell (Nobody wants a BB anymore)

The new truck 6.0L, aluminum block is the L76, the 6.2L is an L92, also aluminum block. Both engines use a truck type intake.

Actually, there is a small difference in the way that the alternator will mount if you use the f-body accessories.

I am not sure how the alt bracket mounts on the LS1 block, however with the 5.3 block you have to utilize an existing hole on the block for the lower mount, and then drill and tap a hole for the upper mount. it looks like the block was cast using the same cast b/c there is a place right where that hole should be, it just looks like the factory didnt drill it out.

I just did this over the weekend, here are some pictures

      Wayne,

Thanks for the info. It looks like you have an iron block 5.3L. I just compared you pictures to mine and the aluminum block 5.3L have the holes. Good info!

Not sure on the truck 6.0 but the trucks with the LS2 such as the trailblazer SS and the 05 SSr use the LS2 intake. haha now that GM is making the truck blocks in aluminum its going to really start gettng confusing. Guess we will have to learn the RPO codes for the new truck engines. First one I can think of is what the hell is an LS4?

LS4=5.3L aluminum block engine found in the 05 and later front drive vehicles. Monte Carlo and clones. These have DoD. Displacement on Demand.

........Which brings me to question that I have had for a while . Is the front wheel drive 5.3 block casting the same as the rear wheel drive engine block ? To rephrase , will these engines interchange ?
      Thanks , Frank .

      Frank,

I do believe that the blocks are the same. There are differences in engine mounts, exhaust manifolds, accessory drive, intake manifold, etc... However, the bare long block should be the same.
