      Crossmember for ZF 6 speed

I just picked up a ZF 6 speed on ebay for the 68 Camaro. Hopefully a good deal. Does anybody know if an aftermarket crossmember exists that will work? These are suppose to be stronger out of the box than a T-56, will see. ANy other tips or suggestions regarding these trannys?

The ZF6 has a mounting pad for a torque arms since it was used exclusivly on the C4 (and the lotus Omega but that one has a completely different mount, the rest, apart from no CAGS, is the same)

I have a ZF6 in my C3 vette and I made my own mount. I am still using the torque arm mount (after extensive repairing, the thing had cracked almost all the way through)
Here's what I did, basically it's a large U bracket that mounts a standard tranny mount underneath.

Here it is mounted on the frame, sorry for the dark pics but I only have a digital vid cam and it has no flash.

You may also notice that the yoke is not stock, it's a th400 one (I was missing the stock one) It does fit but when engaged almost fully w/ only 1/2 an inch or so for play (in/out) it hits the shifter bracket, I made a small bracket that repositions the stock bracket (basically rotating it so the center of the shifter rod stays in the same dimensional position)

again the pics suck as they are a bit dark, hope it helps.

Oh and just for general info, stuff can be bought from Bill Boudreau, a very helpful guy. He's the ZF Doc, and his site is http://www.ZFDoc.com if I'm not mistaking. He has some nice stuff there like external forced/cooled oiling.

No,you won't have to have it shipped back to the factory. ZF parts are widely available now and there are numerous people that are qualified to work on them. Bill Boudreau is a friend of mine and does excellent ZF work. Kurt White in Florida and Art's Transmissions in Colorado are two others ,just off the top of my head.
ZF's are great transmissions, can handle a ton of power, and shift like a hot knife through warm butter. There are a number of twin turbo ZR-1's out there making over 800rwhp & 800rwtq and their ZF's have been pretty troublefree.
The downsides to the ZF are overall size and yes, they do cost a little more.

It is not like the T-56 is small either. Tunnel surgery was already in the plan. I know Steilow install several in several of his camaros and diced a TH400 member to make one. I was looking to see if someone had already made one aftermarket.
