      T-56 Technical Data

I went to my old work (a Chevy dealership) and asked the guys to print me out some data on the T56. I thought i'd pass on the information, since a lot of guys seem to have the same question i did!

I have not yet put the T-56 in, but i figured if i had the same questions, i could certainly save a bunch of people the hassle of finding this out on their own.

just FYI the speedo connector part number has changed, its #88987993 now

and when you get the new connectors from GM the wires are not color coded, all wire is white

but here are the pin outs

How do you wire up the reverse lock out in an aftermarket situation? For example a 68 Camaro.

It would be cheaper to purchase an LS1 trans... than to try and install the LT1 behind and LS.

If it's a 2.66 first gear LT1 T56, yes you can swap input shafts; and all of the LT1, LS1 and Viper T56s have the same transmission to bellhousing bolt patterns, so the bellhousings can be swapped too.

      T56

I know I need to change the flywheel to install into my 69 Camaro, but which one will work? The stock flywheel is an 11", but does it require a different flywheel? Thanks for the wiring information.

Elwaupo... I'll be using a factory 10.5" which is also pretty light at around 17 lbs.

Original data links appear to be dead. Any chance that they could be revived?

I have a t-56 out of my cts-v that needs a rebuild. how easy would it be to mount it up in a 68 firebird. it will be mated to a lq9. with I have to modify the tunnel to get it to fit? I can have it rebuilt and change the output housing to put the shifter where I want it. thanks in advance for any info..

      Pete
