Man... all I can say is buy your wheels, and keep them in a place where you can see them. Then start going to some of these events... you'll get motivated.

Oh... and get a side job. *LOL*

How wide are your rear wheels? I've had my eye on a set of those ZR1's some have 11" wide rear wheels. Yours really look good. I was wondering if I would have to notch my frame as well with a set of those. Thanks.

Yeah, the back ones are the 11" wide wheels from AFS wheels and are wearing 315's. We did have to notch the frame and the rear end is not the stock size (I can't remember off the top of my head what size it is, but I can look it up).

You can see the notched frame in this picture:

It's not the best shot though... I'm hoping to push it out of the garage tomorrow if it's not raining and take some better pictures of it. I'll pop the wheel off and get a better angle on the rear frame rail so you can see it.

Well... for whatever reason I've misplaced my tire iron, so I couldn't pull the wheel off , but I did take some more pictures of it.

This picture is from inside the car:

And this one is from inside the trunk looking at the same tire:

The plan is to box all that in on the next go around.

I know you have to minitub it to get those tires in there, but you might not HAVE to notch the frame. I really wanted to tuck the wheels and tires in, so that's why we did it. The articles about Mark Stielow's 'Red Witch' don't mention that he notched his, but from the pictures I've seen of it, mine seem to sit in a little more than his did.

Very cool man!!!! I have the opposite motivation. I have a 600 horsepower big block dynoed and ready to stuff in my car. The boys at prodigy customs still have my car, wheels, suspension, etc. Almost in paint so my wait is almost over.. I have been staring at the engine for a few months now.

Ooooff... that would suck. I'm just starting to think about tackling the motor and transmission. I'll be glad when this part is over. Lots of unknowns at this point still.

Looking good! Nice progress shots and comments. With the DSE mini tubs you have to notch the frame. They give instructions with their tubs. Keep up with the great posts.

Ah see... had I been the one cutting the thing up I would have known that.

Thanks for all the comments. I'm strong on motivation, just short on $$$ in the car account. I'm putting together what I think is a good plan for the engine / trans, so hopefully I can start making some purchases at the beginning of the year.

They are BFG g-Force T/A KD's. 315/35/17 is the exact size and I picked them up from tirerack.com. They had the cheapest prices at the time I was looking (haven't looked since then). They seem to be nice tires. All the reviews I read on them were good so I went with them. I don't have any driving experience on them... but they look beefy for whatever that's worth.

So I think I've finally made my engine decision. I think I'm going to ditch my 377 stroker kit and build an LQ4/9 instead (I know, I know... swore I'd never... but...). After looking at all my options I think this is going to be my best horsepower bang for the buck. Should be pretty interesting. Hopefully I'll be picking up the pullout here in a month or so and can get rolling.

      Stay tuned!

Dan...what are you doing for wheels on the front, I know you had some issues with clearance awhile back.

Great progress so far. That thing is gonna be fun to drive. LQ4/9...refresh my memory, is that the all-aluminum 5.3 liter?
