I'm not sure yet really. The wheels are 9.5", but they are obviously not going to fit. I think I'll have to have them cut down to 8.5 to be comfortable, so whatever tire size that equals out to.

Did you have to use wheel spacers to fit the wheels?

Not the back ones. We cut out the wheel tubs (well, and even notched the frame a little bit) and set the back ones underneath the car so we could get a good measurement with the look we were after. I'll be ordering the rearend to fit next week.

As for the front ones, I'm assuming I will have to, although it'll be a while before I know how big. Since I'm having the wheels cut down, we're waiting till the car is completely back together again so we can stick the wheel inside the fenderwells and hopefully get the size right the first time.

I snapped this picture the other day with the wheel on, it's not the best angle... but you can tell it's not going to work as is. This is no spacers. It's definitely hitting the tie rod end and pretty darn close to the frame all the way around.

If only I could get the money to roll in quicker I could pull that off! I'm doubting it at this point... it'll be there in spirit though.

When did you get that Firebird 400?? Got pix?

I’m glad I’m not the only one in that boat. Dan, I’m like you. Grad degree, wife, house, career, kids have stalled the 67 project for at least 10 years. But that is changing very soon.

Finally have an update! After being stuck in sandblaster jail (apparenlty all the guys help quit the day my car was dropped off...) for almost 3 months we've finally got some forward momentum going again.

After sand blasting we quickly realized that the floor and trunk will need to be replaced... which equals MORE money I hadn't counted on but oh well.

So the bottom is cut out of it now... as soon as that is back in, the quadra link install is next. That's the part I'm most excited about at this point. I can't wait to see this thing sitting on those back tires on it's own weight.

More in the near future... hopefully!

Well, that's a good question. I've got a destroked 400 (377) in boxes... but most of the parts I bought 10 years ago, and realistically don't match up to well. I had read a ton of magazines and just started buying stuff. Noob mistake for sure.

Once the suspension stuff is out of the way I'm going to sit down and see what is going to be the cheapest route to a strong running motor; selling parts I have and buying new parts OR scrapping the whole thing and getting an LS1 with all the goodies I'd want.

I'm leaning pretty heavily on a TKO600 at this point.. but a 6 speed is still in the back of my mind as well. We'll see.

We're going in reverse at this point *LOL*

I did ask the guy that's helping me with the car how it looked while it was naked. He said it was pretty straight, but that he didn't like how the quarters were put in by the previous owner... but he could make it look good.

The rockers are going to have to be replaced / fixed, but other wise it seems to be a solid car. Well you know... not counting the floor... and the trunk.

      Forward progress

I've got some good progress going here lately. I'm hoping that it's going to be a rolling chasis before too long (and before I run out of money)...

      Quadra-Link install

...AND the Quarda-link is making it's way into the car finally! I'm really excited about this one...

The guy that's building the car is saying that we should have this done by the end of the week. More pix soon I hope!

      The car is home again...

Alright, well the car has made it home again for a little while so that my bank account can recover but I'm super excited about the progress that has been made so far. Something about seeing this thing actually sitting on those back tires gets me all fired up. Here's the latest pix:

Looks kinda like it did when it left... except now it's a funky green color and has a killer suspension

The quadra-link is completely in now

The back tires fit nicely. This is actually without the rotors on, so I'll have even more room when it's all in there. The camera angle makes it look tighter then it is. I can get my hand in there no problem.

I meant to get a better shot then this, but the tires fit in the wheel wells awesome. They'll be tucked up in there perfect...

And we need to move them back just a hair, but no adjustment has been done to the setup at all at this point. Just straight out of the box...

I'm super excited about it though. I may try to get some more pictures of it later to keep myself motivated. I think my next step is to get the motor and transmission squared away and then take it back to the shop for the subframe connectors and roll bar, and then hopefully roll right into the body work / paint. Mo money mo money...
