      Hey everyone,

I've been lurking around the forum for a couple months, so I figure it's time to introduce myself.

My name is Dan Hardison and I own a '70 Nova SS-396 'clone'. I purchased to car back in late '99 mostly complete. The car had been "restoed" as a SS-396 clone just before I purchased it, with the exception of an LS7 454 and ladder-bar rear suspension. I felt the need to go bracket racing so I pulled the M-22 Muncie and 3.42 gears and installed a TH400 (3500 stall), 4.11 gears and 10" slicks. The car ran a best of 11.74@112, but I soon got tired of the car just sitting in the garage between trips to the track.

So, this past winter I decided to go the Pro Touring route and put her back on the street where she belongs. I pulled the TH400 and installed a Tremec TKO 5-speed, Lakewood blowproof bellhousing and Centerforce II clutch/pp. For the rear I pulled the ladder bars and installed good 'ole Lakewood slapper bars, plus I swapped the 4.11 back to the 3.42s and rebuilt the Eaton posi. Motor-wise I added a little bling and installed Jet-Hot coated headers and swapped the single 930 Holley for an Edelbrock dual-quad set up (2 - 600s). Exterior-wise I pulled the stock 14" SS-396 wheels and installed 17" TTIIs all around plus a 2" Goodmark cowl hood which at this point still needs to be painted. I ran the car like this all spring/summer and got more enjoyment out of it than I ever have. I also received more compliments on the car than ever. The compliments from other car lovers make the work and scrapped knuckles all worth while.

This winter's projects include 4-wheel manual discs all around (currently drums) and a full Hotchkis TVS suspension kit. I picked up the front and rear disc kits from Touring-Classics and they should be here in a couple days. The Hotchkis TVS kit I ordered just a few days ago, so that should be here soon as well.

Well, that's enough rambling. I'm sure when I get in to the disc and suspension installation I'll have plenty of questions. Thanks for listening!

      Dan

Thanks Rybar. I love the color of your Camaro! Is that a special mix or some factory color?

Welcome, Dan!!! It looks like you have a great street bruiser coming along. Nice pic in the sig too. By the way, could you reduce that to 250x75? We'd appreciate it. Anyway, got any more pics of the car? We can't get enough of the car porn...

Hey Dan, the colour is a candy colour. Candy-Apple Red. House of Colour makes the paint. Base coat is silver with transparent red. Gives it a real deep look to it. I'm afraid to scratch the thing.

      Anyways, your Nova is sweet!
