      Vin\dash Resto

I am currently in the process of restoring the dash on my 68 camaro, my question is concerning how to prep the VIN for painting. There is minor surface rust on the VIN plate and I've considered sandblasting to smooth the the VIN out as much as possible ,but I'm concerned about damage resulting from the pressure or abrasive. I am doing my resto at home and would like the dash to come out as close to perfect as possible. Any suggestions or advise will be greatly appreciated.

      dash -ing

The vin plate is pretty durable but rust MAY cause it to deform or worst loose a number. I would try to blast it with glass bead...its very easy on steel. You can also reuse the rose head rivits if you are carefull. The actual plate is 2 piece that is sandwiched on the dash panel...now im hungry
