I just asked this question on another board. Some people said not to worry about it that their car had a ton of endplay and had for years. I was told that is caused usually by how much wear the clutches of a my posi have. Are you using a posi? The only solution I have found is that people buy valve spring shims, because they are almost the indentical size and are hardened steel. They can be easily cut to work with the c-clip and take up space in the grove on the axle and reduce your endplay.

Idea end play for a c-clip axle is between 0.127 - 0.254mm with 0.304mm being considered a maximum.

The real question would be..... what brakes are you running ?? If you are using a 'floating' type caliper (like a PBR) you can safely get away with more, but on a fixed/radial caliper or drum..... its nice to have closer to the minimum.

Well..... if its a 9" there shouldnt be any end play.... in theory.

Are the bearings not seated all the way into the bearing cup ??
Do the retainer plates not clamp the bearings in the bearing cup ??

The retainer plates should put pressure on the outer race and load them into the bearing cup. The "preload" of the bearing is or should be applied by retainer plate clamping the bearing into the cup itself.

Can you post any pictures ??

That's way cool. Thankfully it was a simple fix.
