What time of lsx for a 69 camaro

Hey guys im new to this forum but i have been on ls1tech but i was wondering if u guys could help me out. i have a 69 camaro and i di allt he suspension upgrades(heidts upper and lower tubular control arms) and chopped the springs and got the tko 600 with the ford 9 inch but now im torn on a motor. I had just a couple criteria. Im looking for a fuel injected lsx with 550-600 or more horse. i need it turnkey cause im jsut starting out im only 17 and putting an engine in already feels like im bitting off more than i can chew haha. I think with the style of my car and of the ls motors will complete my ride but tell me if im going in the wrong direction. any information on ls2's and such will help out a lot. thanks!

What is your budget? A turn-key built engine with 550-600 hp will be quite an investment if purchased as a complete setup (wiring, computer, exhaust, fuel system, etc..) Figure a budget of at least $7-8000 to start.

$8000 for turnkey? I've not seen anything for less than $10k-$11k with that kind of power.

If you know where I can get a turnkey 500/500 LSx for $8k you and I need to talk.

      Crate LS2 engine = $5500 tops

Shove a big ass cam in it and you are right near 500 fwhp..

All the "incidentals" is what kills your budget..

Yeah, that crate LS2 comes w/o accesories & brackets, computer, wiring harness, headers, sensors etc.

Nine Ball mentioned a turnkey motor. Unless I'm wrong, that means I drop it in, bolt up the tranny, connect 12v and fuel and it runs.

you could always go salvaged and get a drop out for 3-4k then do your own mods, which you wouldnt be many, and have a turn key for a great price, but it would be a used engine.

      Picky Picky Picky... ;)

$5500 Motor with intake, TB, WP and coils
$600 for starter, alt, tensioner, brackets
$1500 for computer and modified harness
$400 for headers (a guess, but technically the motor comes with very good exhuast manifolds that you could run and thereby not need to buy headers, the crate motor even includes the plug wires and water pump)

That's $8k.. then you have toss in a big cam if you like but it makes over 400hp right outta the box
