      cooling my LS3 questions

I am looking at a Cold Case CHT56357LSK radiator support module with fans and A/C condenser for my 1957 Chevy project. I have been reading some other posts about LS swapped cars and it is clear to me that some of you all have way more knowledge at this than myself. I have a Blueprint LS3 setup with a Tremec TKX 5 speed. What I am wondering, is there a preferred method of controlling the fans that people are using and what are you using for a thermostat temp wise? I will be running A/C as well if that makes any difference. Any suggestions or help is appreciated as I am learning in some areas of this build and am really trying to do my best to get input and information

      Thanks

I'm thinking most will probably say if your fans are capable, use pwm controller this way they can ramp up and down as needed.

These pwm controllers are decent for brushed fans. I run the factory thermostat.

Pretty sure they are brushed. I only see two wires on the connector.

I forgot the link in my post above.

There are numerous options for using modern brushless variable speed fans. They do not need any sort of controller, but do need a pwm signal. If you are using Holley EFI, that is very simple to do. If you are doing something else, there are other options.

The fans on the set-up from Cold Case are garbage. If you zoom in on the picture you will see that the fans have a sticker on them that says 125watts. Modern OEM fans are also rated in watts, and a good setup with dual fans is from the Chevy Volt and each one of those fans is 300watts. So compare 250 watts for both fans to 600 watts for both fans.

If you don't already have the fans, the radiator for your car should have a 17.25" tall x 21.5" wide core assuming you have a Bel Air and you're using the factory radiator size. A 2017 Corvette comes with a supercharged 6.2 and has an 18" x 21.5" core so really really close. A little trimming of the fan shroud or a small block to plug the hole should be all you need to fit it in. Or, perhaps see if the Corvette radiator will fit and the fan bolts right to it. Rock Auto has a factory Corvette cooing fan for that engine for 270 bucks, designed to work to cool that engine with no radiator opening. It'll easily keep your car cool.
