House Federal Pacific main house electrical panel and breakers

      Just a FYI.
Couple of weeks ago we had a whole house generator installed. We had three local companies bid the job.
All three that saw we had a Federal Pacific main panel and breakers said it needed to be replaced ASAP. FP breakers are known to not "break" and catch wires on fire. Look it up. Pretty scary.
Had the install inspected by the state inspector yesterday and he said he would not sleep in a house overnight with FB stuff.
      Again just FYI.

      that sounds reassuring!
so what is the fix? entire new panel, or just all new breakers?

The fix was all new Square D stuff. New panel and breakers.

Federal Pacific lost their UL rating decades ago, their breakers are known for not tripping when they're supposed to which leads to burnt wiring and electrical fires. A new panel was the right decision!
