Aggressive wheel specs for 1979 Trans am

      hello all,

anyone installed 18 front and rear or 18 + 19 wheels on 2 gen Firebird with coilovers?

      I'm planning to install 18 with front 255 45 18 + 295 40 19 on 10j and 11j wheels. Front coilovers + rear stock leaf springs

I've run coilovers with a 18x8f 255/40/18 and 18x10r 295/40/18 with no other modifications on my car.

Why do you need a 10" wheel with a 255/45/18? That size calls for an 8-9.5" wheel. Or am I reading this wrong?

do you have backspace data for wheels?

my wheels are 8j with 3" backspace front and 10j 3" backspace rear.

did you use lowering leaf springs on back?

I've ordered QA1 550 lbs single adjustment for front and currently keep stock rears, I plan to use same tire sizes 255/40/18 and 295/40/18 but wider wheels like 9,5 front and 11 rear for more lip size.
also plan to install 6 piston 355mm rotors new brakes, but keep drum brakes for rear, will it work normally?

      Search for SW's Trans Am

      8x8f 4.5bs 255/40/18
      18x10r 5.75bs 295/40/18

Search this forum for "Streetking" to see pics of his red 73 Trans Am.
He's running a 295/35/18 on the rear but I like a little more sidewall so I went with a 295/40/18.
I think the taller tire fills the wheelwell nicely on a muscle car.

There are a lot of tire fitment threads on here if you search...

That is nowhere near enough backspacing unless you have a sky high ride height…
