69 camaro door handles and latches

One thing I’ve always seen lacking is the upgrading of door latches (modern design) vs the old pieces.

At sema I looked over some builds ring brothers etc
They did swap out the latches, using a pt cruiser and strikes

Looking on how the oem handles work they will need some fab work to make them work with the rod style.

Anyone have any experience in this? I’ve seen Detroit speed do the same as well fesler

      Any input ?? Thnx

Tough as hell to do as they use cables versus the rod/lever style on the older cars. If you are going to swap, you're going to have to pull the latches as well and make them fit your door. Not saying it can't be done, just gonna require a lot of ingenuity. I've used the C6 electric door latch mechanisms on cars with shaved door handles and they work pretty well. I pop them open with a remote or interior button and they work just like a pop door. Cheap too.

I’m running 5th gen door latches and installed a rod-style door popper below it which will be triggered by a soft-touch actuator in the stock handles.
It isn’t finished yet, so at this point it’s just a plan.. but it will work

How are you operating the outer door handles ?
      Are they stock?

Yeah sorry I didn’t make it clear, inside I’ll use 5th gen door handles that are cable driven, but the exterior uses the 68 door handles which trigger the popper
