      PPG Paint and Clear Recommendations

      Hello,

I have someone to do my metal, body and paint on my car. He is experienced and paints with PPG (works out of his home). I'm in California and willing to drive to Arizona or Nevada to purchase the product so to avoid the water based product but know nothing about automotive paint supplies.

With that said I'm looking for recommendations for PPG products. Specifically base paint (red) and high quality show clearcoat. Any help is appreciated with product line, name or part numbers if possible.

      Thanks in advance!

I use PPG Deltron at the shop. It is a solvent-based paint. As for a paint code for red, that just depends on what you're looking for. What clear and primers to use will depend on your budget. PPG also had a "Shop Line" brand that is a little cheaper in price but provides good quality.

On my 68 C10 project we used PPG base coat clear coat. I picked a 2017 Ford (I know oh the horror) because it seemed to be a bit redder? than the GM red.

Thanks, My painter said today that he uses PPG Vibrance Clear and associated primers, hardeners, etc. I'll look at the Deltron as the color red will be Buccaneer Red GM 73.

That color red is very nice. It is darker but looks nice in that photo.

      Years ago I did a 66 Mustang ground up resto. It's a GM red.Name: 1966 Mustang 9.JPG

Compare that red to a 79 Camaro resto I had painted in Viper red.

Viper color picture looks very close to the GM Buccaneer Red that I have... Very bright but still have some orange in it... Thanks!
