      Trans opinions?

Hey guys, planning and stockpiling parts for my camaro build. I'm wanting to do a little of everything with it. Autocross, road race, drag and drive events, and just go cruise it around on the street. A little about the build, full ridetech with true turn, 13" front and rear brakes, 335 rears 315 fronts for the stop and turn action, and a set of 17s with drag radials for the drag setup. I know pinpointing one style of driving is preffered to get the most out of a setup, but I'm not going for any records with this thing

Motor will end up being somewhere around 800-830hp, 8000-8500rpm, Ls motor.

That being said, with the motor being fairly stout, and the rpm thats going along with it, I'm seeing all these transmissions with 7500rpm limits on their shifting capabilities. I'm leaning towards the TKX, keeping it simple, light, and not seeing much need for the 6 gears.

Anyone know if the TKX can handle shift points a little higher than the advertised 7500? The other issue I've heard people talk about is running faceplated trannys with road racing not allowing for proper downshifting?

      Thoughts? Questions?

Personally I think you're 8000-8500 rpm goal is unrealistic. Please elaborate on the engine setup. 7k with good valve train is doable with some reliability but 8000-8500 can't say I've seen this.

It's not unrealistic in the slightest. I spin 7800rpm with my turbo 6.0 setup all day for the last few years. Only thing more expensive than basic stuff is johnson 2116 lifters and btr .680 springs. 8500 is just what's expected to make the power goals with this motor. Tsp roller rockers, good springs, 3/8" pushrods, .908 lifters, and factory titanium intake valves. Are all thats planned for upgraded valvetrain. Nothing that crazy.

Engine is a 5.3 block, darton sleeves, 4.125 bore, factory L8T ccw 3.858" crank, factory casting ls7s, horsepower research will be doing the heads, 15:1 compression, e85, still hydraulic roller,

I would check with these two companies, both have upgraded TKX's.

The TKX won't hold that kind of power. I did a ton of research on mine, may hold it for a while but will burn it up a lot quicker.

Liberty would hold the power and rpm fine, but faceplated isn't street friendly, or autocross friendly for that matter.

Bowlers doesn't increase the hp and rpm capabilities person, just makes a smoother, quieter, nicer trans.

Starting to lean towards a magnum-F. Or, just get a tkx and see how far I can push it. Lol

I think 850hp would be pushing it on a stock T56 magnum, look at a level 5+ RPM built TR6060 or T56. They're pretty much the go to shop for built manuals in the drag racing realm and have lots of 700+ rwhp cars running them for many passes without failure
