      Vintage Air Gen V?

Has anyone heard anything about their new unit? I understand that just because it was at SEMA doesn’t mean it is available.

I don't know about availability, but whomever wrote "it goes without saying that modern air conditioning is more efficient and blows colder air than anything seen in the past." has obviously never sat in a mid 60s through mid 80s GM RWD vehicle with Harrison A/C.

I’m in the market for one for my 69 Camaro. Interesting to see what this does over the existing production units?

Any holiday sales coming up during thanksgiving?

Vintage Air has a short video on it on their Facebook page, don’t see it anywhere else. I talked to their sales about the unit. Some of the improvements were an improved case (able to service it), OEM style door motors, uses a Gen IV pcm so you can use those controllers, larger fan with 2.5” air hoses and rubber door seals instead of felt. Sounds promising, the sales guy said they were shooting for a December release in the universal mount one and later with the surefit style kits.

Working in A/C Product Qualification in Detroit until I retired a few years back, and without intimate detail knowledge of the Gen V, color me impressed. After good outlet design and placement, airflow was the next most important feature to subjective comfort levels. When I left in 2019, we were still not using overmolded doors on all new OEM production. It's a significant capital investment (at least at OEM volumes) and yields a more repeatable air seal configuration.

Pretty much believe they should be commended on investing to improve product features. If you're doing OK, it's easy to sit back and ship existing design. Glad to see VA stepped up to the bar to invest in improvements. Too bad I bought my Gen IV a couple years back (and it's still in the box)

Has anybody tried this unit yet? If so, how was it compared to the gen IV?
