      71 GTO Suspension advice

I have a 71 GTO that is all factory suspension except shocks and springs which are factory rate springs and bilstein shocks. I am looking for update suspension options without going overboard. I have another 71 GTO that I went full Hotchkis TVS and am not happy with it. I am not looking to lower the car just take some of the "float" out of it and tighten the handling up slightly.

Unlike my other car that I went over the top with, huge brakes, full hotchkis, lsa, tr6060, etc I am going to run the 71 455 ho engine in this and maintain factory brakes, etc. Just want it to be slightly more livable for daily driving through town and trips no longer than 100 miles. I already plan full replacement of all front suspension parts, tie rods, ball joints, bushings etc but wanted the experts input on good simple suspension add ons for better drivability. TIA

Pic of car which is going to keep its "patina"

I have no personal experience with this kit, but I've heard all good things. Add their upper and lower control arms to fix the camber curve, and you're all set.

I was going to suggest the same thing.

I installed that streetgrip kit on a 71 Cutlass. The rear springs were too long as there are two lengths that were used depending on which GM division. ridetech ended up paying for UMI springs but it was a heck of a battle getting to that point. There are also several versions of lower control arm bushings. Small, large, and oval. Make sure you fully understand which ones you have before diving in. If you have oval you will be replacing your lower control arms.

All said and done the ride quality was good but it was a struggle getting there. More than it should have been.

Take a look at what UMI has to offer.

Which Hothkis suspension kit did you install?

Quick glance at their website I saw this:

      +1 on UMI

Pick the price you're willing to spend.
