      OEM Power Window Switches

Hey guys here’s what I got, I bought nu relic power window kit for 69 Camaro and I don’t want to use the stock style switches that come with the kit. So I bought Watson street work window switches and a Ron Francis black box (basically a relay box). The issue I came across now is that I don’t have a good place in the dash or center console to mount the Watson street works switches. If anyones been following my build I have a Mercedes dash with 17 Camaro center console and I’m planning to use BMW 4 series door panels. I had an idea to use the BMW window switches as they just push in the holes and are 3 pin just like the Watson street works switches, however, today I got a BMW switch and it won’t work because there’s no continuity between the 3 pins so it seems as if it’s just sending a signal to the bcm. Anyway, any ideas on what OEM window switches that are push in that I can use with nu relics and black box?

Here’s the style or look of the switches I’m looking for.

The switches may be changing resistance values between pins.

I'm old school with either a switch opening or closing but some of this new stuff is on 5V setups and to get something like a power window to go up the window controller might have to see 200 ohms from the switch in the up position and then 100 ohms when the switch is in the down position to get the controller to put the window down.

I did a quick search on the12v.com for BMW wiring and they show a lot of canbus stuff.

      Hi,
Did some searching online. Found a company, AEW, that sells universal power window kits. Also multiple switch styles.
https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/re...w-catalog-2019 Wondering if their part number JW-39TO would
be of any interest. Appears to have push, pull style actuation. The BX-10 unit works well, used one several years ago.
It will allow one touch up/down window operation if you didn't know. Also looked through Dorman products online, window
switches. Most of those appear to attach to a bezel, then fasten to panel. Are you looking for single switch modules, or
      a four switch unit?
      Just offering help.

Thanks for the suggestions, I ordered a switch from a 5 series BMW, hoping it might be different but don’t have my hopes up.

Don, I’m really would like an oem look. Those don’t really look oem to me.

I also found this, it’s a 5 pin universal switch kit, with this kit, it looks like I won’t need any relays or the Ron Francis black box right?

You shouldn't need any additional relays for the windows with the BX-10. It can be set for positive or negative inputs.

You can likely use the OE switches. The switch itself will be an "on/off" part. . .contacting, not contacting.
The switch is likely attached to a circuit board. That board could be sending out CAN messages, variable resistance, etc. Not really important.

Take the switch apart, if the switch is separate and has pins soldered to the PCB, solder wires to where the switch attaches to the circuit board (make sure the pins don't have continuity due to whatever components are on the PCB).
Or, if you have the OE wire harness for the switch, take parts off the PCB, solder wires from the switch to the pins coming out of the switch, use OE connector.

Either way, supply the switch ground, so it supplies ground when pressed. Connect the switch ground signal wires to the Black Box.

      Joe:
2009-2012 Dodge Charger rear window switches are single style with a reversing pinout. Town & Country minivans have similar but slightly smaller switches if you like the style. The rear switches are a single gang style whereas the fronts are usually integrated with other functions (i.e. door locks, mirror controls, etc.). I bought a pair off eBay a few years back for like $10-12 and was planning to use them with DEI 535 window control modules in my '72 Olds 442 convertible project. I changed direction and decided to use some late 80's model, chrome switches which were more like the OEM switches that my car came with.
Here's a pic of a Charger switch I swiped from eBay.

Rodney, the charger switch looks perfect do you know what each pin does or how to wire them up?

Ween, that’s great! Thanks so much. Gotta love this forum.

Another question, I’m looking at the master power window/lock switch. It has controls for all 4 windows, door locks and side mirrors. Looking at the pin outs of the plug there’s only control for right rear and left rear window up/down. How would I control the front two windows?

      This is the switch:

The dcctools website shows two different switches (Base & Except Base). You'd need to find the "Base" switch which doesn't use
      multiplexing for window control.

Not following exactly. But if you scroll further down on the dcctools results (2009, LX), you'll see
SWITCH-WINDOW/DOOR LOCK-****. That's where I found the "BASE" & "EXCEPT BASE" in the descriptions.

Oh I’m looking at the 2018+ switches I didn’t like the look of the older switches. So no way to make those work?

So the switch from post#11? Might be able to be modified to operate windows and locks. Other functions on the switch may be difficult to implement.
