Opinions welcomed for stripe options on blue 69 camaro

Car is almost done with paint finally. I originally fell in love with Jeff Dupont's Lemans blue 69 camaro with the black SS stripes. I'm not going for a stock look, but can't decide on a stripe option. I went with the Dave Kindig paint color TEAL LATER (the same color on the 58 Lincoln Continental). I also have the Kindig flat out low profile rear spoiler. I personally didn't want the factory rear spoiler. I like the kindig one or I can go with no rear spoiler. I have Boze wheels, 18x10 fronts and 19x12 rears.

I understand it's hard to do something that hasn't been done a hundred times already. I also don't want my car looking like it was in the movie Corvette Summer.

Painter wants to do something custom, I'm too scared. I like the idea of classy and never out of style.

I recently inquired about a rendering, but everyone is months out.

I am going with a flat black tail panel in the rear.

I also am thinking maybe go with vinyl for my stripe option and or black vinyl looking roof.

So my top thoughts right now....

-Black SS stripes painted or vinyl

-black vinyl roof and the dx1(bumblebee looking with the long skinny points on hood towards windshield) hood stripe (all vinyl in case I sell car) I could also do the rear wing in black also.

      -hockey stripe in white

-hockey stripe in black and could possibly add the black roof and or rear wing.

I also think if I go with the black roof, i personally like the solid black roof look,, like a 67-68 camaro or a 69 firebird.

I'm sorry if I upset the purists, I'm 42 years old and just like the incorrect roof better.

My wheels are fully polished but I could paint centers grey. Not sure on that either.Name: 663885966.jpg

That color looks amazing. What color interior are you going with? That can also influence the decision.

My vote. Never was a big fan of the hockey stick stripe. I'd leave the roof alone (you have a gorgeous color!) and I'd carry a similar strip onto the hood as is on the decklid in this picture

If you keep all the stripes a vinyl, then they can be removed if you change your mind later.

At first, I thought the black interior would need the black hockey stripes to work, but this pic changed my opinion. I think it still works well.

If you have the cowl induction, add those stripes in matching white:

And then to be different, do the vinyl the rear panel white (white-out? ).

And if you really want to be bold, (and don't mind a little more work keeping them clean), paint the wheels white as well.

      Just an idea.

I've always liked a hockey stripe on a 69 Camaro. It's less common and not much else can accommodate the shape because it follows the lines of the car.

I like the hockey stripes, but with a cowl hood, I can't resist hood & deck stripes.
I also prefer the correct location & not like in the picture above.

Please stay away from the bumblebee stripe mutations that go down the hood... never saw one that I liked.
...or a black spoiler that looks like someone didn't have time to paint it yet.

If you have a black interior, I would lean towards black stripes.

I originally wanted the black SS stripes when I started the project years ago or should I say Z28 stripes as a purist informed me. I still think that it looks good. I'm just listening to certain friends(who like hockey stripes and a vinyl top) and the Painter who says "Everyone has SS stripes, be different"

The SS stripes are the only thing I'm brave enough to have painted on. Anything else I'm leaning towards vinyl wrap due to my uncertainty about visualizing it before.

It's funny I have found cars with each of the stripe options I'm deciding on and like them all, but I think some look better with certain color car combinations.

I am a purtist with a 69 Z and building a 68 RS Camaro with a LSA. My opinion, there are too many non Zs with Z stripes. I am going to put the bumble bee stripe around the nose of the 68 if I even do that.
If you do put Z stripes on, at least put them on like they should be or people will be harassing you about that. It can be unbelievable what people want to pick at.

What do correct z28 stripes look like? All stripes I see look to be wider apart on the rear decklid than the hood. I will try and google this.

Best I can tell, they'd be the same width according to these vintage ads.

Your right though, does seem there's a mix of those that look like above, and others where they've aligned the outside of the stripe with the rear window edge (wider than front).

I vote for the white vinyl hockey stick stripes. That's the best looking option imho, and with vinyl, it's easy to change up if you ever get tired of it.

I don't mind vinyl tops, but I wouldn't go out of my way to put one on a fresh build, especially if you ever want to sell the car. Just my .02. At the end of the day it's your car - do it your way. Nobody is ever going to confuse it with a numbers matching resto, giving you even more license to do whatever you want.

Love the hood and decklid stripes as shown in the original sales ads shown in post #12. I'd go with those in white or black.....or nothing at all.

My 2 cents .. white hockey stick down the sides , black tailpanel body color everything else . I always associate the z28/SS stripes with chevelles ... only camaros had the hockey stick stripes and black tailpanels

So in trying to stay stockish looking instead of custom graphics, I've narrowed down to

      Black Z28 stripes

      Or

      White hockey stripe

      Decided to keep wheels polished.

Painter wants to customize more thinking his name is on it. I guess he wants to use my car as advertisement. Name: Screenshot_20220309-203209_Gallery.jpg

He wants some custom stuff but I shut him down. So now he wants the black roof and the nose and hood stripe since not many out there. He says with my car being modern it needs a more modern graphic. LOL we agree to disagree.

I love the cream colored car attached. Not sure how I'd like it on a blue 69, but the car pictured looks great to me.
