      Interior lighting

Looking to add dome and under dash lighting. I have autowire harness so I think I can what I need from them . Just seems to me there was a kit that made it like a newer car with delay and auto dim ext. Anyone one hear of such a thing ?

Yes - there are several out there- and cheap too. $8 to much for you?!!!

I have not used any of these pieces- don't know of there longevity.

In my car I used a Hella timed relay- a little more expensive - but handle more current

I have it set for about 2 minutes and also added/incorporated a on-off-auto switch for the interior lights.

Bueler (as in Ferris Bueler) also makes a "delay on release" timer relay that is adjustable from about 2 sec - 3min. I have one on my headlight feed to keep the headlights on for 1 minute after turning off the ignition so I have light while getting out of the car. You didn't mention what car you're working on but most classic cars switch the ground side of the courtesy lights so this relay could be wired into the ground leg and use an ignition or accessory feed from the fuse box to as a trigger. I got mine from DelCity.com.

What will trigger the initial turn on of the dome lights? Do you have to open the door, or can it be wired into the ignition so when the key turns off the dome lights will come on?
