600 steering box where to buy

Anyone know where I can get a 600 box for my 69 cutlass?

I thought I had one from ridetech, but it's an 800 series. They should list it as an 800 box. I'll be returning it.

What did you buy from ridetech and why do you think it is an 800 series?

If you got the Borgeson box from ridetech, I can tell you that I had it in my car after a Delphi 600 box and then replaced the Borgeson with the same Delphi 600 box and there was absolutely zero difference in the way the car drove or felt.

Because the part #800130 on the paper that came in the box. And it looks exactly the same as my old box. Unless I'm mistaken and the 600 box is the same size as the 800.

Because the part number starts with 800? Every Borgeson steering box starts with 800 and none of them are 800 series steering boxes. Maybe your box was already upgraded, I can't tell, I can't see it from here.

Install the steering box you bought from ridetech. Like I said, the 800130 is virtually identical to the Delphi 600 box and if someone swapped them in your car you would never know.

what is "pricey" a 600 series box is at minimum $800, what is your budget? PTFB has NEW USA made 670 boxes for $799.00.
PTFB also has new 700/800 style boxes in 10:1 for $599.00 perfect for the weekend warrior and occasional autoX on a limited budget.
PTFB also has USA made Saginaw 700/800 style NEW steering gear boxes in 12:1 ratio for $579.00

Yes you can get cheap remaned boxes but the problem is all the parts get mixed and matched, NOT good when are talking about parts that wear together, in the end they are still just cleaned up used parts and not matched to boot, you would be better off finding a used one and having it rebuilt BUT in the end the time it takes to find what you want + the cost of it + the cost of shipping a 30 pound item multiple times + the cost of the rebuild you will spend as much or more than a brand new box without having to hunt down anything, not to mention the added cost of extra parts to fit a modern fast ratio box into an older car.
Now a 600 series box will also need extra parts to fit pre 81 GM cars as they are only made in the modern version, all in all to upgrade a pre 81 car to a 600 series box it will cost about $930-$950 with shipping.
However PTFB has 700/800 style built with the splines and fluid fitting to match you ca.

I did say a 600 series box is minimum $800.
Sweet does not manufacture those boxes 100%
PTFB has 600 series boxes for street applications from $799 to custom race applications at $2600

      I see what you're sayin.
Can't wait to put the new one in. Figured I'll do it now while I change the oil pan and lower the engine. It's got an old 800 agr steering box on it right now.

Pitts64 I'm afraid I have to set the record straight here the 670 box is not a Vega box and Pintos didn't use steering boxes and if they did it would not have been a GM Saginaw box.
Claiming that Lee rejects 60-70% of boxes and sending them back !!!??? In order to do that they would have to open them up which means they could not send them back!!
New Delphi boxes are not even made anymore. GM sold Delphi to Borg Warner almost 2 years ago.
$638 for a rebuilt box is not that great a value.
No one get me wrong not trying to discredit Lee but let's not try to discredit other top notch manufacturers.
FYI the old man Lee passed away years ago the Lee name is just a business name now. And the early days of racing are as old as human kind.

Borgeson said it's neither an 800 or 600 series box that it's their own box.

      K.....?

I've had both the Borgeson and the Delphi 600, in the same car, with no other changes, and stand by my statement. Did you install it yet?

Your right I shouldn't of passed that bad information on about how they send back all those boxes. There is no way that could be true..

I haven't installed it yet. I returned the borgeson and got a 600 series box from protouring fbody. I received the new box quickly within a couple of days I think. I'm out 50 dollars on the old one. The thing is I wanted and paid for a 600 series box, so I returned it since it was not. Ridetechs webaddress on the steering box page says, 600-series. I can tell that the 600 box is lighter than the borgeson.

In the market for a new box myself...DId the Iroc box from autozone, better than stock, but want more. I am not sure were this thread landed, but looking for bolt in, high effort. Will probably replace pump and go with a remote res. I watched the Jeff Smith Lee video on youtube, sounds like the 12.7-1 or 16-1 variable are the ones to go with....I was trying to go all in at around $1200.....How does the DSE box figure into the mix?

The PTFB 670 12:1 is $799.00 standard is medium effort, an high effort is available but not something I would recommend with large front tires and a fair amount of positive caster.

Looking at our site, I show it listed as replacing an 800 series box. There is a rag joint needed to make it mate up to 600 series gear but the box itself is an 800 replacement (just tighter ratio). Fitment wise, I can't say I've had any issues with it being too big to fit. If you see a spot saying that it's a 600, can you please send me the link so I can have it fixed? On an actual 600 case, I can't say I know where the best place to look is. You could try calling Borgeson directly?
