      Project Nite Hawk (69 Camaro)

Sorry but this is ANOTHER 69 Camaro Build...

The Name: The name is reference to the movie Step Brothers. Since my 95 TA (Green Dragon) was named after another Will Ferrell classic "Old School" (Frank the Tank's Red Dragon), I thought it fitting to name my 69 Camaro Night Hawk. When the step brothers meet each other they introduce themselves as Dragon and Night Hawk.

The Builders: All work will be done by my father and myself. He has been building Hot Rods for 30+ years, and I am a Mechanical Engineer.

The Timeline: With the EXTREME expense of the parts I am planning and the cost of starting a family I don't see this being done until 2013-2014.

The Parts: What I have currently...
-Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of my Camaro on this computer.

I dig this project...but your time line is WAY off, you can have this thing done by like January 2011.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this one come together. I really like the project name also.

      Cool project.

I am in the same boat as you. I am a mechanical enigneer, recently married, trying to buy a house and my falcon is a father son project.

This is going to be a very cool build.

      Thanks guys!
It has been on hold for 2 years, while I finished my 95 TA. But now that the TA is about done and I really want to get going on this project I am a little pissed about spending $50k on a 95 Trans Am!!! It just kind of started to snowball!

I have changed the spelling of the name a couple times now, but I think I am set with "Night Hawk". Spelling it "Nite" just kind of made me sound illiterate.

Yeah this is kind of my last big project before the wife and I have kids, so I am going ALL OUT.

you got a hell of a lot of $$$ in parts already! Great start!

I hear Pro-Touring is dead though. ;) Hopefully we're not all in electric torque monsters in 2014.

      Nice frame!
Do you know if Jake will sell/build the watts link for anyone with his torque arm? Great!

      Maybe Jake will chime in....

I totally forgot to tell what colors we are thinking, right now! As much time as I have I will probably change my mind, but we have been set on these colors for about 2 years. It is a custom mix tangelo and sunset orange and LOTS of Pearl, with a large wide graphite strip over the hood and trunk.

This is a 93 TA that my father and I built with left over parts from my 95 TA...

I agree, I wonder why 2 x 3 rather than 2 x 4 though. I'm gearing up to build my frame and was planning 2 x 4, but if 2 x 3 is just as tough, and obviously lighter, I may have to do a slight redesign.

Guys, it has 2x4 front rail, the perimeter is 2x3x.120 including the rear rails. This is a custom chassis, and was built to the customers specs. It needs a full 8-10 point cage to be used, Luca is planning on doing a 12 point cage. If your building a perimeter chassis I would recommend 2x4x.120 if not running a cage, or even a 4 point.
we did this for more head room with the flat floors (doing this will allow about stock height head room) and luca wanted it light and is doing a full cage.
