      Corbeau a4 in a 77 trans am

I was considering the recaro specialist seat s, but they're just simply out of my price range. I understand that seats are important since they play a large part and how enjoyable the drive is, but the recaros are double a corbeau. I'm looking at the A4 seats, and they have good ratings on the corbeau site.

Does anybody here have any reviews of these, I don't want anything with super aggressive bolsters that dig into my thighs and make these things unenjoyable. I want lumbar support. I want holes in the seat to be able to run a harness through so that I'm eligible for different racing classes. I don't know what classes I'll race in, so I need something kind of general. The A4 seems to fit the bill.

Do any of you have any experience, thoughts, and/or opinions? What about the mounting brackets? This always seems to be such a huge point of discussion and I don't understand why the brackets that the manufacturers offer aren't acceptable to just bolt in. Everybody seems to have tons of threads and discussions about the brackets, fabbing them, and fitting them. I don't get it. perhaps it would be completely obvious once I get the seats and brackets in my hands.

I'm a thin guy and I did not plan on getting the extra wide seats. The overall width of the seat has shown in the drawing on corbeau's site is nearly identical to that of the stock second gen firebird seat albeit that includes the side supports on the A4.

I have the A4 wide with microsuede in my Cutlass. Driver side also has shaved base and inflatable lumbar. I'm 6'5" average build (about 240lbs), the lower bolsters do dig into my right thigh a little but it's only annoying on longer trips. Doesn't happen on left leg since my knee rests against the door, or my leg is extended forward. I don't think it would effect somebody with shorter legs as much, if at all. I've done 8-10 hours of driving with no other problem.

Side bolters are great, nice and comfy feeling and supportive in corners. I think the microsuede material has something to do with that, grips you better than leather or vinyl would.

I used Planted seat brackets, and had the legs cut short and re-welded for more headroom.

      Any more info you'd like?

no that's a great testimony and the kind of input I was hoping to get in this thread. I am 5'10" 150lbs, and the regular width seat is real close to being the same width as the stock 2nd gen firebird seats. The width corbeau's site lists includes those big side bolsters though. I'm wondering if I need to get the extra wide variants.

I fit nice and cozy in the wide version. At your size, I think you'd fit well in the standard seat. But if you're not totally concerned about a snug fit while cornering, I don't think the wide would hurt anything either.
