      67 Firebird headlight options

      I just got my 67’ firebird today and took it out for a night ride- it’s still got the factory headlights and I’m wondering what’s the most economical way to get leds or brighter lights installed? I believe these are a sealed headlight? They do look like the bulb comes out but I’m not finding any replacement bulbs? The high beams are not hooked up and seem to have a block off plate installed and I’ve found a plug with 2 fins which I assume are for the high beams. Is there an easy solution for replacement of the bulbs ir do I have to get a whole new light/ bulb?

      You are lucky, there are some great housings that work quite well with LED H4 bulbs.
      I suggest Bosch or Hella 7” H4 housing with the optical/fluted lens, they produce a smooth beam pattern without hot spots, they almost appear like regular lamps so you won’t attract attention from the cops, but the light control is outstanding on low beam, on high beam they are far more than you expected, even using standard halogen bulbs.

      A friend has a 70 Monte Carlo w 7” Hella lamps, and a set of 30w H4 LED bulbs from Auxito, same as these, which do not have a fan.

      I’ll try to post a driveway shot, with plenty of distance so you can get an exact feel for how they perform, no garage door pictures, as the digital cameras compensate for the intensity.

      On 2 lamp cars you do not need to buy a wiring harness, but if you do, you guarantee the full 12-14 volts to the headlights, which is an upgrade by itself, also allowing the use of higher power halogen bulbs, which H4 has the most variety.

      67 is 4 5.75" headlights..

      There's Dapper lighting if price is no object.

      I'm still running sealed beam on my 64. I pulled the firewall bulkhead connector and cleaned the contacts with brass brush/contact cleaner, made a big difference. If you wanted to stay sealed beam you could run relays to the headlight circuits to get full 12 volts from the battery.

      If not google 5.75" headlight and you'll get all the options you can think of. Summit has a decent selection:

      This works great. I converted a 96 Tahoe to use 88-89 C1500 sealed beams, and the low beams were good for about 100MPH. High beams would illuminate about a mile of highway. Plus, my headlight switch before the conversion would get hot enough to start burning your finger within a couple of seconds, after the conversion it only because slightly warm. The only downside was I had to replace the bulbs about once a year.
